Hope Sandoval and The Warm Inventions have announced the release of their new EP  Son of a Lady , which is out on September 15. The 10" with an exclusive track along with other exclusive items will be available via Pledge Music
The band says, "'Son of a Lady' is a song we wrote and recorded some time ago and rediscovered it recently by chance. We worked with this really great upright bass player Damon Anderson who we'd never worked with before and I believe it was the first time he'd ever played his bass over a cello part. He was really inspired by Ji-Young Moon's exquisite playing. It's a strange and lovely one; just the way we like it."

Death From Above Unveil New Album Outrage! Is Now Available September 8, 2017

DEATH FROM ABOVE UNVEIL NEW ALBUM  OUTRAGE! IS NOWAVAILABLE SEPTEMBER 8, 2017 Pre-Order Available  Here
Extensive North American Tour ConfirmedTickets On Sale August 18 At 10:00AM Local time
Death From Above have announced that their third full-length album Outrage! Is Now will be released September 8, 2017 via Warner Bros. Records/Last Gang Records. The album is available to pre-order as of today here. Listen and share the new album track "Never Swim Alone" here and watch the lo-fi video directed by singer/drummer Sebastien Grainger here. An extensive North American tour has also been announced, kicking off September 15 at Riot Fest Chicago and picking up again October 20 in Montreal, and includes an appearance at Phoenix Concert Theatre in their hometown of Toronto on December 1. Tickets go on sale Friday, August 18 at 10:00a.m. local time. For ticket information visit:  deathfromabove.com.  The tour comes on the heels of major festival plays this summer including Festival d'Été, Ottawa Bluesfest, Wayhome, and Osheaga.
The merry merchants of muscular death dance discord - Sebastien Grainger (vocals, drums) and Jesse F. Keeler (bass, keys, synths) - made a collective decision to embrace their own penchant for perpetual motion while gleefully maintaining the car-wreck intensity of their punkified disco rock. Ultimately, Outrage! Is Now confidently kicks off a new chapter for Death From Above.
"We are committed to evolution. This record is the sound of the two us pushing at the walls. We want there to be space, surprises and action!," says Sebastien. "We both wanted to see how far we could take our sound as Death From Above. In a way, that has always been our objective," adds Jesse.
The two began pondering what became Outrage! Is Now while in the midst of finishing their 2014 record, The Physical World. Marking a sweaty and triumphant return after a near 10-year studio hiatus, their sophomore outing would be met with critical acclaim from Rolling StoneLos Angeles Times,Monster ChildrenUncutAlternative Press, and KERRANG! who awarded it a rare perfect score. The Physical World spawned fan favourites such as "Trainwreck 1979," which generated an impressive 12 million Spotify streams to date and "Virgins" was another to crack the 5-million mark. As they retreated to Jesse's farm two hours east of Toronto to write in 2016, the musicians re-examined the way they've written in the past. They found new ways to start ideas, and tried to exorcise their old demons. With a host of demos, Death From Above headed back to Los Angeles to work with producer and engineer Eric Valentine (Queens of the Stone Age, etc.). Making for what Jesse describes as the "fastest recording process," the vision quickly took shape.

"The myth of what we should be didn't exist anymore," Sebastien agrees. "There was never a moment where we took a conventional path-either writing or recording. Eric has been making records for decades and we managed to make him say: 'Well, that's a first' during every song! There was always some strange element thrown in. In a way it's a very serious record, but dressed in a really fun outfit."
The first single, "Freeze Me," is currently impacting the air waves and attracting headlines: "The new, piano-sample-driven track is a typical, serrated piece of Death From Above-branded dance-rock, with a fierce noise breakdown toward the end." - Spin
"It's a mixture of DFA's familiar clatter - Sebastien Grainger's battering ram drums, Jesse F Keeler's frantic, distorted bass guitar - mixed in with some 1990s house pianos." - Noisey / ViceThe track was featured on this season of HBO's Silicon Valley. The song's music video was directed by Canadian filmmaker Corey Adams in Los Angeles and premiered in June. Click here to watch and share "Freeze Me."

"There's an absolute chaos and confusion in the world, and people who would otherwise agree on most things seem to be disagreeing on everything," sighs Sebastien. "There's a lot more space between the poles of opinion and views on the world. It seems like there's a barrier of disgust as we dehumanize one another based on a few slight differences of opinion. The title is an observation of this hyper-sensitivity, which we're all a part of."
"I hope fans hear the progression," Jesse leaves off. "This record is very much the result of the environment and experiences of the last five years. If we didn't have struggle, life would be really fucking boring. These songs are an anti-boredom manifesto."

"Outrage! Is Now is meant to be felt on both a visceral and emotional level," concludes Sebastien. "We tried to make something that excites and surprises. Our journey is that of enlightenment and seeking truth. There's enough fiction and meaningless distractions in the world to make you totally shut off. We hope this record turns you on."

ALVVAYS RELEASE NEW SONG "PLIMSOLL PUNKS"

ALVVAYS RELEASE NEW SONG "PLIMSOLL PUNKS"
ANTISOCIALITES OUT ON SEPTEMBER 8TH ON POLYVINYL
Photo Credit: Arden WrayStream/Share "Plimsoll Punks"
Alvvays will drop their highly anticipated sophomore album in under a month and the Toronto-based group are giving us another taste of new music with the infectious "Plimsoll Punks." The song is the band's answer to Television Personalities' 'Part-Time Punks' and a winking surf opus indictment of the self-righteous who intend to condescend.
The previously released tracks "In Undertow" and "Dreams Tonite" show a band on the brink of releasing their best material yet, Pitchfork notes on "Dreams Tonite" that the "new sound nods to the Chromatics and Beach House, touching upon their moody temperament while fleshing out their emotional explorations." Rolling Stonepraised "In Undertow" in their Playlist section writing "Canadian guitar romantics Alvvays mix pleasant noises and chill dejection, and the result is a perfect indie-rock lullaby."
Alvvays will be touring the world extensively in support of Antisocialites this fall playing shows with Jay Som and Nap Eyes. The North American tour is selling quickly with several dates including Portland and DC already sold out.
Early Acclaim For Antisocialites:
"Alvvays never second-guess their core strength: anthemic, arm-swaying hooks that aim for the stars even when the sky is gray." Pitchfork
"The band has kept their rivers of reverb, which sometimes makes them sound as though they're playing to an empty middle-school gymnasium, an image that fittingly blends sweetness with melancholy." Vulture
"Lead single "In Undertow" contains all of the elements that were initially so charming about the Toronto five-piece blown up to fuzzy and dreamy new heights." Stereogum
"It's a heart-swelling three minutes, and further proof that the band's sophomore LP could be one of the fall season's best." Consequence of Sound on "Dreams Tonite"
"The great thing about Alvvays is that they know what they do well - create objectively good, beautiful indie pop - and they are evidently doing it again with Antisocialites"Uproxx
"A very nice dose of their melodic, emotional indie pop, complete with a shoegazy guitar solo." Brooklyn Vegan on "In Undertow"
"More  lovelorn sun-spotted jangly jams done in only the charming way the Toronto quartet know how." My Old Kentucky Blog

The response from fans inspired Dua to call on them to upload covers and lip syncs of “New Rules” online, tagging #DuasNewRules, resulting in a collaboration video showcasing how the song has connected Dua with her fans. Watch #DuasNewRules here. The track also inspired some expertly executed parodies, like Instagram user @jakewil’s version, which you can see here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efTl8sNKHv8.
