GARY NUMAN SHARES NEW SONG "AND IT ALL BEGAN WITH YOU" FROM NEW ALBUM SAVAGE (SONGS FROM A BROKEN WORLD)

Los Angeles, CA - August 21, 2017 - The iconic and highly influential Gary Numan today shared new song "And It All Began With You" from his forthcoming 22nd album Savage (Songs From A Broken World) . Listen to the ethereal track HERE. Coming almost four years after his album Splinter (Songs From A Broken Mind) earned the best reviews of his career and his highest chart-placing in 20 years, Savage (Songs From A Broken World) is due for release September 15 on BMG and is available for preorder now HERE. Fans who preorder the album now will receiveinstant downloads of "And It All Began With You" and previously released tracks "What God Intended" and "My Name Is Ruin".
Savage (Songs From A Broken World) is an album with a narrative that's set in an apocalyptic, post-global warming Earth in the not-too-distant future. There is no technology left and most of the planet has turned to a desolate desert wasteland. Food is scarce, water even more so and human kindness and decency are just a dim and distant memory. Western and Eastern cultures have merged, more because of the need to simply survive than any feelings of greater tolerance or understanding. It's a harsh, savage environment, as are the survivors who still roam across it.
While Numan was writing the record, Donald Trump was elected President of the United States. It made sense to make him and his climate decisions the catalyst for the apocalypse theme of the album.
"The songs are about the things that people do in such a harsh and terrifying environment," explains Numan. "It's about a desperate need to survive and they do awful things in order to do so, and some are haunted by what they've done. That desire to be forgiven, along with some discovered remnants of an old religious book, ultimately encourages religion to resurface, and it really goes downhill from there."
The album was produced by long-term collaborator Ade Fenton, with recording sessions split between Numan's own studio in LA, and in the UK. Numan and Fenton's creative connection goes back to 2006's Jagged. "Ade is not only extremely creative but ridiculously hard working, even in difficult circumstances," says Numan. "It's easy to discuss alternative ideas with him, he's not precious about things and is always looking to make the music better, even if that means, on very rare occasions, undoing his own work and starting again."
As the project took shape, Numan also set up a Pledge Music campaign to create an experience for fans that would let them see how an album was put together, from the first note to the finished shrink wrapped package. It was a strategy that brought Numan closer to his fans, and allowed him to communicate the blood, sweat and tears that goes into making a record. The campaign grew so successful that Numan consequently secured a record deal with BMG.
Numan announced the album earlier this summer and shared its lead single "My Name Is Ruin." It's a menacing industrial march in which the unrelenting mechanized intensity is countered by the humanity of its sweet, swirling backing vocals which exude a palpable Egyptian influence. It's immediately captivating but brutally uncompromising: the sound of an artist eager to continue to push both himself and his audience almost four decades after presenting his initial sonic prototype.
The accompanying video for the track was directed by visual artist and musician Chris Corner of IAMX. Filmed in the desolate deserts of southern California, it features a special guest in the shape of Numan's 11-year-old daughter Persia who also contributes vocals to the track. With the foreboding setting and temperatures reaching 48ºC during the shoot, the stunning location was the perfect backdrop for an album that examines a world struggling for survival after the devastation of global warming. Watch the music video HERE.
Savage (Songs From A Broken World) will be released on CD, deluxe CD, double vinyl, cassette, digital and MFiT formats.
In support of the album, Gary Numan will embark upon the North American Savage Tour, November-December 2017.The official tour routing and ticket links are below:

WIDOWSPEAK'S NEW ALBUM EXPECT THE BEST
STREAMING TODAY VIA HYPE
ALBUM RELEASED AUGUST 25 ON CAPTURED TRACKS
NORTH AMERICA + EUROPE TOUR THIS FALL
Today, Hype Machine is streaming Widowspeak's highly anticipated, new album in full. They said of the full-length "Their previous album leaned into light-hearted Americana. By contrast, Expect The Best presents heavier atmospherics, influenced by Hamilton's time in Tacoma, Washington, and marking the first time they've recorded as a quartet. The album balances this newfound energy with the band's characteristic intimacy." Expect The Best will be widely available via Captured Tracks on August 25. STREAM EXPECT THE BEST
Up to now, Widowspeak has released singles "Dog," "When I Tried" and "The Dream," all warmly received by critics and fans alike. In support of the new album, the band will tour the US this fall, beginning in Boston on September 8 at The Great Scott and concluding in Brooklyn at Rough Trade on October 13. All dates are listed below including newly confirmed shows in the US and Europe.
"fuses lightness and darkness like few others: The group's sound may conjure the effervescence of dream-pop, but a gloomy, anxious undercurrent anticipates nightmares at any given moment." - NPR
"familiar vintage textures and dreamy vocals only partially disguise a sense that all may not be well. The alt-rock influence slips in as a brooding chill, a spookiness that never found such voice on past Widowspeak albums." - SPIN
"The guitars, in all their distorted glory, are the standout here, while distant oohs build an extra level of intrigue to an ominous and downright sleek song." - Stereogum
"sounds like Mazzy Star given a psych-rock makeover" - Under The Radar
Expect the Best is the follow up to 2015's All Yours. While previous albums were conceived as a duo with lead guitarist Robert Earl Thomas, the new LP finds Widowspeak playing to the specific strengths of the current touring incarnation (James Jano on drums, Willy Muse on bass). The album, recorded by Kevin MacMahon(Swans, Real Estate), exhibits a marked increase in energy that reflects the band's live show and the organic way it was created: by four people in a room together. The band collectively navigate dynamic changes with subtlety and restraint; the nine tracks here reach highs of wide-eyed lushness and plumb the depths of resigned melancholy. Their usual palette of dusty guitars and angular twang are still here front and center, but now with a bit more 90s homage, even if abstractly.

Moscow's Kedr Livanskiy drops another track via Beats 1 this week - "ACDC" featuring Cleaners From Venus's Martin Newell.
Kedr's debut album 'Ariadna' is out September 8 via 2MR. The album is Kedr's escape from reality. She was born into a shifting and critical time for Russia's Soviet Union - old values had been exhausted and were anathematized because of reconstruction. A sense of displacement drove Kedr to find herself. 'Ariadna' repeatedly explores the imagery and ideas of romanticism, mythical and fairytale themes.
Her inspiration for this record comes from the Izhevsk (sometimes referred to as "the capital of Russian electronic music") sound of the 80s, including groups like Stuk Bambuka V XI Chasov (Bamboo Crash at 11AM) and Samtsy Dronta. The movement in Russian experimental music is especially inspiring, with acts likes Valery Chkalov, Sergey Kuryokhin and Pop Mechanica; in general, the late-Soviet period was very inspiring with all its figures in music, cinema, their energy and their approach towards life and art.

New Album BE HERE NOW Out Friday!
(August 25)
The Mynabirds have released a video for “Golden Age”, from the forthcoming album BE HERE NOW , out on August 25 via Saddle Creek. Directed by Jason Lester and starring Nicole Laliberte (the new “Twin Peaks”), “Golden Age” takes inspiration from artist Ragnar Kjartansson's "Woman in E", and may similarly move people to tears.
“Golden Age” , written by Laura Burhenn (aka The Mynabirds), speaks to the sadness and fear gripping our nation, touching on neo-nazism and white supremacy, global warming, the border wall, anti-black, anti-muslim and anti-semitic hatred, and the way politics and digital media is dividing families and friends. Most importantly the song is about hanging on to hope, inviting all of us to stand up and fight for everything the statue of liberty represents: Freedom, justice and equality for all.
Lyrics to “Golden Age” can be found below.
Watch and share the video here.
BE HERE NOW features 9 songs written and recorded in just 2 weeks in January 2017 following the Inauguration and the Women’s March. The album is the result of a spontaneous effort to document the news and people’s emotional reactions to it in real time. No stranger to politics in her songwriting, Laura aimed to speak from the voice of the collective consciousness in a work of “Emotional Journalism,” singing the heartbreak, anger, exhaustion and resolute hope she witnessed during the Muslim travel ban, the final stand at Standing Rock, and every other news story that rattled America in that period. The album vacillates in style and feel to reflect a frayed nation, featuring a Burundian refugee choir on one song, and a cacophony of dissonant saxophones in a new national anthem on another. It is the last recording made in that space.
BE HERE NOW was released as 3-EP set this summer, which culminates in an official album this Friday, August 25, 2017.
