Tori Amos Shares “Reindeer King” From New Album 'Native Invader' Out Sept. 8 + North American Tour

TORI AMOS

W Magazine  Debuts " Reindeer King "
From Her Upcoming New Studio Album
Native Invader  To Be  Released  9/8 On Decca Records

North American Fall Tour

Pre-Order Native Invader   Stream "Reindeer King"
Stream “Cloud Riders”  |  Stream “Up The Creek”

"Part swagger, part reflection, it both smolders and shimmers ..." –  NPR Music
Tori Amos © Paulina Otylie Surys
Tori Amos will release her highly anticipated new album September 8, 2017on Decca Records. On the heels of recently released stand-out track “Up The Creek” which touches on climate change and features vocals of Amos’s daughter Tash, new song " Reindeer King " debuted with  W Magazine  and is available to post/share  HERE .

At the centre of Native Invader is this theme of division. The mythic Reindeer King talks about a mind divided from a soul in a classic Amos melody that gets you right between the ribs. The introspective track also looks outside of the Earthly orbit. Referencing lyrics you know that I would skate / from Scandinavia/  all the way to the moons / of Jupiter with you Amos shares, "For years people had told me about the magical atmosphere that happens when bodies of water freeze over and hundreds of people ice skate for miles and miles and miles. Around the same time there were images of Jupiter’s ice rings coming from the Cassini probe, these images were the jumping off point for Reindeer King."

Amos’s fifteenth album is an intense feast of melody, protest, tenderness and pain. In the summer of 2016, she took a road trip through North Carolina’s Smoky Mountains. The intention was to reconnect with the stories and songlines of her mother’s family, who were from the North Carolina and Tennessee Smoky Mountain area. That winter, two seismic events knocked the plan off its axis. The fall out from the US Election. And in January her mother, Maryellen Amos, suffered a severe stroke leaving her unable to speak.

The complex influence of America’s alt-right Super PACs, lobbyists and think tanks informs much of the tension in Native Invader. Amos talks of the need to form a “militia of the mind” in the face of national lies. Hidden messages and subliminal protests lend themselves perfectly to Amos’s natural playfulness. For all its dark themes, this album is a joy to absorb, full of warmth and puzzles. Tori Amos’ extensive North American fall concert schedule kicks off on October 24 as part of a larger world tour she begins in September in Europe.

Following 2014’s Unrepentant Geraldines – her eighth Billboard Top 10 album -- Native Invader is Tori’s fifteenth studio album and will be made available in various physical and digital configurations, as well as vinyl later this fall. The physical CD package will be available in standard as well as deluxe offerings; the latter includes a hardcover book and two bonus tracks.

A pioneer across multiple platforms, Tori was the first major label artist to offer a single for download. Nominated for multiple Grammy Awards, she has had her songs turned into graphic novels and has produced ground-breaking videos throughout her career. In late 2016 she released the title song ‘Flicker’ to the acclaimed Netflix documentary ‘Audrie and Daisy’, addressing issues of high school rape. A noted humanitarian, Tori is co-founder of RAINN (Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network), which is the United States’ largest anti-sexual assault organization.

LÉON RELEASES NEW TRACK “BODY”

ON RELEASES NEW TRACK “BODY”“… further proof of the Stockholm native’s mastery of the mashup—combining modern pop with throwback (think ’60s and ’80s) sounds, this songstress has certainly found a winning combination.” - Milk

Swedish singer/songwriter LÉON has released her poised new track “Body” today- check it out HERE.

"When I wrote ‘Body,’ I guess I was feeling pretty nostalgic,” LÉON says. “I started thinking of a summer a few years ago, when I used to be working as a waitress. I think a lot of people have experienced that super intense "summerlove" that you know, deep down, will never last. But when it's over it feels like it’s the biggest heartbreak you'll ever go through."

“Body” is the follow up track to LÉON’s latest release, “Surround Me,” both of which will be included on her forthcoming EP due out this fall. The singer is set to take these new songs on the road for her second North American headline tour this fall. The tour will consist of stops in New York, Los Angeles, Boston and other major markets with additional festival appearances at Bumbershoot and Meadows Music and Arts festival. "FIRE FADE"

Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum selling Swedish artist Tove Lo closes out her  Lady Wood  Phase 1 era in cinematic fashion with the release of “Fire Fade”—the epic follow up to her critically acclaimed and controversial short film, “Fairy Dust,” which  V Magazine  called  “a raw, beautiful, and proudly provocative exploration of sexual desire, obsession, denial, and pain.” Directed by Tim Erem(credits: Tove Lo’s “Fairy Dust;” “Moments”; Nick Jonas’ “Close” featuring Tove Lo; Rihanna’s “Work” featuring Drake; Major Lazer’s “Lean On” and more) and co-written by Tove Lo and Erem, the original film ignited a storm that led YouTube to remove the film from view only to reinstate it hours later.

Featuring an emotionally charged performance from Tove Lo, “Fire Fade” incorporates five  Lady Wood album cuts, including “Don’t Talk About It,” “Imaginary Friend,” “Keep It Simple,” “Flashes” and “WTF Love Is.” Watch the 21+ minute “Fire Fade  HERE .

“Fire Fade is for my fans. When the fairy dust starts to wear off and you can't fully reach the highs anymore — though you're desperately trying to — it’s a struggle with the mind.” Tove Lo explains. “It was also the most physically challenging thing I've ever done. I’ve never been in so much pain on a shoot before! But it was worth it and was such a huge thing for me to be able to do for this chapter. Can't wait for my babes to see it!!”

The release of “Fire Fade” comes just ahead of Tove Lo’s highly anticipated tour with Coldplay, kicking off September 23rd in Seattle and culminating with a performance on October 8th in San Diego, bookended by a number of headline dates. Filthy Friends (Sleater-Kinney, R.E.M.) Release Debut Album Invitation Today + LA Show 8/30 & Brooklyn Show 9/6

Filthy Friends Release Debut Album Invitation Today

Featuring Corin Tucker of Sleater-Kinney + Peter Buck of R.E.M.

On Tour Now, LA Show at Teregram Ballroom 8/30, Brooklyn Show at Bell House 9/6

Filthy Friends have released their debut album  Invitation  today via Kill Rock Stars. To celebrate, Filthy Friends kick off their tour tonight in Eugene, Oregon and will perform in Los Angeles, Seattle, Brooklyn, Chicago and more. Complete tour dates below. Buy or stream Invitation here.

Filthy Friends is the product of likeminded individuals with nothing to prove getting together and making a heroic racket that finds space for their many influences and interests. Lead singer Corin Tucker has left an indelible mark on the punk scene through her memberships in Sleater-Kinney and Heavens to Betsy. Guitarist Kurt Blochhas logged a lot of hours as the leader of The Fastbacks, as well as serving as a producer/mentor for up and coming Seattle rock groups. Drummer Bill Rieflin has a fine day job as one of the musicians in King Crimson, he appears on the record but is no longer a touring member. Drummer Linda Pitmon (The Baseball Project, Steve Wynn & The Miracle 3) has joined the band as a permanent member. Bassist Scott McCaugheykeeps plenty busy doing studio work and mining the power pop underground with his long-running band the Young Fresh Fellows. As for the other guitarist Peter Buck has abandoned his position of Lord of the Dance to play with Filthy Friends.

So far, the world has gotten to know Filthy Friends through a nicely scattershot batch of songs: “Despierta,” their entry into the anti-Trump project 30 Songs For 30 Days and the 2017 Record Store Day release featuring their original “Any Kind of Crowd” and a sinister take on Roxy Music’s “Editions of You.” Now this fierce collective is fanning the flames even hotter with the release of their debut full-length Invitation. Yes, it does slip their already released tracks into the mix, but what surrounds those tunes is oh so much more than you could have ever asked for.

The 12-song collection works through a flurry of different moods and styles, genre exercises and joyous experiments. The intricate guitar knots and blasts of bubblegum pop of Buck’s beloved Television are all over the herky-jerky “Windmill.” A mashup of ‘60s downer vibes and rootsy rumblings makes up the marvelous “Second Life” whereas “Come Back Shelley” is all swagger and glitz in the style of a lost glam rock 45. There ain’t nothing this band can’t do with the wet clay of rock music and what they sculpt out of it is pure art.

Tour Dates:

Together Pangea's New Album Bulls and Roosters Out Today via Nettwerk

TOGETHER PANGEA'S NEW ALBUM BULLS AND ROOSTERS OUT TODAY VIA NETTWERK

Stereogum announced Bulls and Roosters earlier this summer and premiered a music video for the album's infectious lead single "Better Find Out". Directed by Steele O'Neal, the video can be seen HERE. Consequence of Sound premiered the album's second track "Money On It" ahead of the release of the of its quirky, DIY music video, which was directed by FIDLAR bassist, Brandon Schwartzel. Watch it HERE. Earlier this week, Clash Magazine treated fans to an additional early taste of new music with a premiere of track "Kenmore Ave."
Co-produced by Together Pangea and longtime collaborator Andrew Schubert, and mixed by Chris Coady (TV On The Radio, Beach House, The Black Lips), Bulls and Roosters was recorded to two-inch tape at Golden Beat studios in Los Angeles and showcases a more matured sound than prior efforts. "It's important to never make the same album twice... if there's any concerted effort from us, that's it. We wanted to try new things and experiment with making music that wasn't so aggressive or fast," said singer/guitarist William Keegan. "Rather than worrying about any expectations, we were like,'Fuck all that. Let's be as honest as we can possibly be.' Sure it's growth, but there's still a brattiness to it."
Next month, Together Pangea will embark on the Bulls and Roosters Tour in support of the album. The tour's North American Leg will kick off on September 14th in San Diego, CA and wrap on October 22nd in Santa Cruz, CA, and feature support fromTall Juan and Daddy Issues.
