PHANTOGRAM UNVEILS STUNNING "FUNERAL PYRE" VIDEO

PHANTOGRAM UNVEILS STUNNING "FUNERAL PYRE" VIDEO (NSFW)
WATCH HERE:https://youtu.be/Opn8ZWrlZgo

New York electro-pop duo Phantogram have unveiled the stunning video for album track "Funeral Pyre." The cinematic promo is a portrait of the band's adopted home of Los Angeles, a city seemingly intent on slowly destroying itself. The director Gianluca Minucci describes the video as "a phantasmagoric journey, from dawn to dusk, with people, sites, and situations of Los Angeles. All shot from a car passenger's point of view, the video is a phantom drive in a land of nowhere, where love meets grief, loneliness, violence and desperation. It's a tragic, Pynchonian elegy, of a world destined to a destroying, but perhaps purifying, fire. A descent to hell, the swan song of a city that celebrates its funeral pyre."
The band is making its way to the iconic Reading & Leeds Festivals this weekend to wrap up the European leg of their tour, before heading back to play some headline dates and then hitting the road with Arcade Fire.

Cold Specks Reveals “New Moon” w/ FADER, Fool’s Paradise LP Out 9/22 + World Tour

Cold Specks

FADER  Reveals Album Track “ New Moon ” Today

Fool’s Paradise  LP Out September 22 via Arts & Crafts

FOOL’S PARADISE WORLD TOUR 2017

Pre-Order Fool’s Paradise

“I’ll be there for you/Don’t know why”: this is the refrain of “Wild Card,” the new Cold Specks single, and it sounds like an exhale of self-doubt — sometimes a giver just gives, whether or not the recipient is deserving.” -  The New York Times

“[Fool’s Paradise] is a slow burn of a track, Hussein’s voice flitting over a syncopated rhythm that ebbs and flows with the song.” -  W Magazine

“sad and mournful, but in the most beautiful, soulful ways. In this moment, I cannot think of another song to which I would rather shed a single therapeutic tear.”  Indie Shuffle

“Despite the heavy topic, there’s a hope and lightness to [Wild Card]… ”
Consequence of Sound

Ladan Hussein, known on stage as Cold Specks, will release her highly anticipated new album  Fool’s Paradise , September 22 via Arts & Crafts. Intimately exploring her identity as a Somali-Canadian woman, Fool’s Paradiseis Hussein’s most personal work yet. Today she reveals new album track  New Moon ,” a personal love letter to oneself about love and growth was produced and mixed by long-time collaborator Jim Anderson at Easy Life Studio in Toronto. The track samples Jim-E Stack and premiered with  FADER .

“The song is a document of a lost year. It was all very strange, beautiful and manic. I found myself developing these intense relationships with strangers and cities.” explains Ladan. “I kept looking up at the moon for some sort of clarity. It would help me measure my lost time, fleeting desire, and frantically plan for the future. Each phase carried more weight. I guess it explores the aftermath of heartbreak. I had to learn to detach, self-care and whisper sweet nothings to myself over and over again.”

Recent singles “Fool’s Paradise” and “Wild Card” quickly received accolades from The New York Times, Indie Shuffle, Consequence of Sound, SPIN,Stereogum, W Magazine and more. Both tracks also feature Tim Kingsbury of Arcade Fire performing bass.

The album encapsulates the naturalness of existing during difficult times. Hussein recently learned about her family’s former life in Somalia - including her father’s musical legacy. During her 2015 Neuroplasticity tour in Australia, Ladan discovered that her father helped form a famous band in the 1970s called Iftin. During the writing process, she dug deep into grainy VHS recordings found online of Iftin, and of many other Somali musicians, songs and videos that had survived war. “My parents never talked much about life in Mogadishu growing up” Hussein explains, “the war split up my family, scattered them around the world, left many missing, and those that made it were forever changed.” Saling her way to shore after grueling trial, error, and musical acclaim - Fool’s Paradise is the sound of finding home, identity, and self-love.

Cold Specks is set to launch the FOOL’S PARADISE WORLD TOUR 2017 with an extensive European tour and a slew of North American dates with stops in NYC, Los Angeles, DC, Philadelphia, Denver, Nashville and more! Full dates can be found below. In 2015, Hussein followed her critically acclaimed debut LP,  I Predict A Graceful Expulsion , with the release of  Neuroplasticity , both of which were nominated for the Polaris Music Prize with the former also earning a JUNO Award nomination for Breakthrough Artist Of The Year.Between albums, when Cold Specks wasn’t writing or touring, Hussein was pinballing between asks from an enviable roll call of collaborators. She was asked to work on Moby’s album Innocents and was invited to play with Joni Mitchell at the singer’s 70th birthday alongside the likes of Herbie Hancock. She contributed to Ambrose Akinmusire's 2014 record for Blue Note andSwans’ 2014 album  To Be Kind . These last two partnerships left a significant impression on Neuroplasticity resulting in the indomitable Swans founderMichael Gira and Akinmusire to both appear on the album. Most recently, she has worked with Massive Attack on the track “Dead Editors” featuring Roots Manuva from their 2016 Ritual Spirit EP.

MYRKUR Interprets Traditional Nordic Folk Song "De Tre Piker"

Renowned Danish composer and classically trained multi-instrumentalist, MYRKUR,unveils her interpretation of traditional Nordic Folk song, "De Tre Piker" today.  Her third single from upcoming album 'Mareridt' includes a stunning, lulling vocal performance alongside nyckelharpa (an ancient Swedish key harp), Shaman drums and guitar.
On 'Mareridt' (translation: Nightmare), MYRKUR explores deeper into the mysterious and the feminine with 11 songs that further progress her visionary blend of metal with gorgeous, stirring melodies, dark folk passages, choral arrangements and superb, horrific beauty. The conceptual masterpiece includes lyrics in multiple languages, an unforgettable collaboration with Chelsea Wolfe and an array of special instrumentation including violin, mandola, folk drums, nyckelharpa (an ancient Swedish key harp), and Kulning (an ancient Scandinavian herding call).
Like a marriage of King Diamond's 'Them' with Tchaikovsky's 'Swan Lake', 'Mareridt' is a carefully composed concept freed from genre - a profound manifestation of nightmares that demonstrates MYRKUR as one of the truly exceptional artists of our time. The compositions sweep into one another like a soundtrack designed to guide the listener through emotional turmoil.  Timeless, triumphant, powerful and hypnotic, 'Mareridt' is a sonic nightmare that you never want to escape.
MYRKUR is:Amalie Bruun - all instruments and composition.

Renowned guitarist Kaki King recently announced her first new material in over two years, and fans can now get their first listen via WNYC’s  Soundcheck . One of King’s most well known solo compositions, “Magazine”, was originally released on her 2004 album Legs to Make Us Longer, and is now given an orchestral makeover by the Porta Girevole Chamber Orchestra. The incorporation of woodwinds and additional strings further adds to the dynamics and building anticipation the track incites. The full album is available for preorder now.

Kaki King Live at Berklee , available September 22, was recorded live at the Red Room at Cafe 939 in Boston in April of 2017, and features King performing new arrangements of her solo guitar compositions, reimagined with the addition of strings and woodwinds. King, Tom Hagerman ofDevotchka, and Berklee students Takuma Matsui and Shereen Cheong wrote the arrangements specifically for the recording. The Porta Girevole Chamber Orchestra is a 12-piece ensemble composed of Berklee students and faculty, conducted by student Gabriela Sofia Gomez Estevez.

BirnCORE , the Berklee Internet Radio Network's ( BIRN ) record label, gives students at the college the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of operating an independent record label.  Kaki King Live at Berklee  is the label's first release to feature Berklee students and faculty collaborating with a visiting artist. King visited campus several times last spring to rehearse with the ensemble, culminating with the live performance and recording.

Kaki is also heading out for a variety of tour dates this fall, many of which will feature her groundbreaking multimedia show,  “The Neck Is A Bridge To The Body.”  Provocative and moving, surprising and beautiful, “The Neck Is A Bridge To The Body” uses projection mapping to present the guitar as an ontological tabula rasa in a creation myth unlike any other, where luminous visions of genesis and death, textures and skins, are cast onto an Ovation Adamas 1581-KK Kaki King Signature 6-String Acoustic guitar customized specifically for this production.

HERCULES & LOVE AFFAIR RELEASE NEW SINGLE “REJOICE” OFF FORTHCOMING ALBUM OMNION!

HERCULES & LOVE AFFAIR RELEASE NEW SINGLE “REJOICE” OFF FORTHCOMING ALBUM  OMNION !
LISTEN/POST: HEREBUY/STREAM: HERE
“It’s at once exultant and ominous, a thumping industrial-tinged gospel-dance banger.” – Stereogum

With forthcoming album  Omnion  garnering widespread critical acclaim and two singles playlisted at 6musicHercules & Love Affair today reveal new single and disco stomper “Rejoice,” premiered yesterday via Stereogum.
“Rejoice” does exactly that. Taking things back to the dancefloor, this celebratory song marks four years of sobriety for Butler after years of serious drug addiction. Hercules regular Rouge Mary “a gender non-conformist” of Algerian heritage takes on vocals – a fitting choice given Rouge once found shelter in a church, finding his/her musical voice there, and given how, after Andy’s life was shattered by drugs, Rouge played a key role in helping him rebuild his life.
Rouge Mary explains - “The lyrics to ‘Rejoice’ were written in a day. It's so obvious when you look around, that we all have so many reasons to be sad and we are so used to complaining about sticky situations. So much that we forget the ancient secret. ‘Rejoice’ highlights the importance of gratitude and the power of positive thoughts. ‘Smile though your heart is aching,’ Charlie Chaplin once said. I interpret it in a very powerful way, to symbolize the urgency of the message. I feel this song is like a solution to face problems of all kind. It truly is an ode to positivity.”
Butler echoes much of the same sentiment: "As with this entire record, ‘Rejoice’ was born out of taking detours from a traditional ‘vocal house’ record. I picked up the tempo and stumbled onto a bass line that evoked my fave early industrial tracks from Front 242or Cabaret Voltaire. The stomp is one of exuberance, and was begging for ‘vamping’ or ‘riffing’ from a singer – something Rouge Mary is so great at. The exuberance just pointed me to the word ‘Rejoice,’ so I asked her to bring that message to the song. It's a message she brings every day to her life, so it was exciting to watch her once again share ‘the keys to the kingdom!’”
Helping Butler interpret  Omnion ’s message of faith and tolerance on H&LA’s fourth studio album are a world class act of singers including The Horrors’ Faris Badwan, Lebanese rockers Mashrou’ Leila, New York singer-songwriter Sharon Van Etten on single and title track “Omnion,” and Icelandic sister act Sísý Ey, alongside regular collaborators Rouge Mary and Gustaph
Born in Denver and cutting his teeth as a teenage DJ, Butler escaped to New York and invented Hercules & Love Affair as an outlet for his songs. From the retro-futurist Paradise Garage grooves of Hercules & Love Affair’s eponymous 2008 debut – with longtime friend ANOHNI on the classic, “Blind” – via the thoughtful elegiac songwriting of 2011’s  Blue Songs , to the bumping, grittier pulse of 2014’s  The Feast of the Broken Heart Butler has nailed a body of work that bridges the dance floor and home listening.
Omnion  moves his game up a notch and reflects his current “hypersensitivity” to all that is going on. “Sometimes the dance floor represents a decision to avoid dialogue with the wider world, to commune with people but not really talk,” Butler explains. “But humans need to challenge themselves and step it up. Not that everything has to be so serious but this Hercules record is.”
Set to be released on September 1st,  Omnion  is picking up plaudits across music, dance, and gay press – including being named “Album Of The Month” by DJ Mag and Gay Times – and garnering strong support at radio, including BBC 6music playlisting, and a live session on Lauren Laverne’s show.
