FRANK ZAPPA Hologram Shows To Be Produced by Eyellusion

EYELLUSION TO PRODUCE FRANK ZAPPA HOLOGRAM SHOWS
Company working with Zappa Family Trust on multiple groundbreaking productions that will feature former bandmates in celebration of late music legend's art, life and legacy. LOS ANGELES - SEPTEMBER 21, 2017 - Eyellusion, live music's premier hologram production company, today announced that it will work closely with the Zappa Family Trust to produce hologram performances of Frank Zappa, giving fans an opportunity to experience the prolific, eclectic and critically acclaimed music legend live in concert again. Production for the Zappa shows will kick off in late 2017, with performances announced later in 2018. "I'm thrilled that Frank Zappa will finally be going back out on tour playing his most well-known music as well as some rare and unheard material," said Ahmet Zappa, co-Trustee of the Zappa Family Trust. "We can't wait to bring his creative work back to the stage with the musicians he loved to play with, such as Steve Vai, Ian Underwood, Adrian Belew, Arthur Barrow, Vinnie Colaiuta, Scott Thunes, Mike Keneally, Denny Walley, Warren Cuccurullo and Napoleon Murphy Brock among others who are committed to being part of this epic endeavor. When I spoke with them, they were excited at the prospect of performing alongside Frank once again and can't wait to give fans an unforgettable experience." He continued, "Also, how radical would it be to have Moon singing 'Valley Girl' onstage with Frank? Or to see Dweezil side by side with our father playing dueling guitar solos? That would be my greatest wish and I look forward to bringing this special celebration of Frank's legacy to a town near you. But if that wasn't enough Zappa coolness, we're also planning on staging Joe's Garage The Musical with none other than Frank Zappa himself starring as the Central Scrutinizer." "Frank was an innovator and his art transcended so many different mediums," said Diva Zappa, co-Trustee of the Zappa Family Trust. "He left behind such an extensive body of work and we want to celebrate his music with really creative and unique live hologram productions that will introduce his music to a new generation of fans and let so many that enjoyed his music when he was alive experience it again. We have had this idea for many years and after meeting with the team at Eyellusion, we knew that they were the right partner to make it a reality." "We work closely with the Zappa family on their various projects, and look forward to sharing new Frank Zappa performances with his longtime fans, as well as expanding his audience to give new fans the opportunity to share in that experience" adds Bruce Resnikoff, President and CEO, Universal Music Enterprises. "We are thrilled to welcome such a monumental and important artist to our lineup of planned live music hologram productions," said Jeff Pezzuti, CEO, Eyellusion. "Frank Zappa was an incredible musician, unmatched in his output, tackled so many different genres and influenced a generation of artists that would go on to help further shape rock and pop for decades to come. We are music lovers first and can't wait to get to work on yet another show that lets fans experience such timeless and important music in a live concert setting." In addition to working with Eyellusion on the creation of a Frank Zappa hologram, Ahmet Zappa will join the Eyellusion team leading global business development. Ahmet Zappa is an entrepreneur, a marketer, film and television screenwriter, producer and a New York Times best-selling author. His creative work spans engagements with Walt Disney Pictures, Sony Pictures, The Jim Henson Company and Microsoft, on movies, graphic novels, the introduction of new characters and brands, breakthrough ad campaigns and more. "I couldn't be more excited to join the Eyellusion family," said Ahmet Zappa. "There is a ton of untapped potential in this industry and I look forward to working with the team to build on the company's reputation as the premier holographic experience company, creating new original content and guiding the company into new markets, including family entertainment." "Ahmet is a perfect fit for our growing team," Pezzuti continued. "He is tirelessly creative, can work seamlessly across music and visual productions and is highly respected throughout the industry. He will play an integral role in all that we do moving forward, bringing significant value to all of our future engagements." Eyellusion launched publicly in 2016 at the Wacken Open Air heavy metal festival in Germany with its hologram production of Ronnie James Dio performing "We Rock" with former members of the DIO Band. It was the first time a rock artist performed via hologram with a live band, sparking considerable buzz that ultimately drove interest in a full world tour. The "Dio Returns" tour will kick off in November 2017 with 80 to 100 performances throughout Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Romania, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States and Venezuela, with more countries to be announced in the coming weeks. For more information, visit www.eyellusionlive.com and follow the company @eyellusionlive on Twitter and Instagram.

Ron Gallo's "Put The Kids To Bed" Video Premieres At Billboard, 'HEAVY META' Out Now On New West Records

RON GALLO’S “PUT THE KIDS TO BED” VIDEO PREMIERES AT BILLBOARD.COM
NEW WEST RECORDS DEBUT HEAVY META OUT NOW ON TOUR NOW, INCLUDING UPCOMING TOUR WITH THE BLACK ANGELS AND PERFORMANCES AT AUSTIN CITY LIMITS & VOODOO FEST Photo credit: Tom Bejgrowicz Ron Gallo has released a new video for “Put The Kids To Bed” from his New West Records debut HEAVY META. Premiering the clip along with an in-depth Q&A, Billboard calls HEAVY META “one of the year's most searing and unfiltered alt-rock albums,” and continues, “...the music on Heavy Meta is often as catchy and cathartic as the lyrics are dark -- and the songs were made to be played live.” Read the full feature and watch the video HERE. Throughout the piece, Gallo details his two-year relationship with a woman who struggled with mental-health and drug-addiction issues during which much of HEAVY META was written. "It was a pretty dark time -- not all of it -- but, god, it was a heavy situation. I was frustrated and pissed off with humanity," Gallo divulged to Billboard. This led to an 11-song set that is drenched in aggression and fuzz with themes ranging from Gallo’s personal ideology on abstaining from drugs and alcohol, self-empowerment, domestication, dead love, not knowing yourself, mental illness and more. The songs often demonstrate this sense of frustration with the human race, balanced by the underlying hopefulness of an idealistic realist.  The February 2017 release of HEAVY META landed on UNCUT’s "The Best Albums Of 2017: Halftime Report" and saw Gallo join Summer tours with Hurray For The Riff Raff, White Reaper, and Twin Peaks. The “insurgent poet and rock 'n' roll disruptor” (NPR Music) also performed highly anticipated sets throughout the festival season, including this year’s Governor’s Ball and Lollapalooza, which earned him a spot on NYLON’s festival season roundup with the description, “A wordsmith of a writer who just so happens to have a knack for rock and roll." Gallo and his band – rounded out by bassist Joe Bisirri (who also co-produced and mixed the album) and drummer Dylan Sevey – will continue taking HEAVY META on the road this Fall with an appearance at Austin City Limits, an October tour supporting The Black Angels, a set at New Orleans’ Voodoo Fest, and a November run with Seattle-based trio Naked Giants. “I love touring,” Gallo says. “For me, the live show is the most alive and in-the-moment place on Earth. There is no time to overanalyze, and I just let things unfold in some sort of controlled chaos and surrender to what seems right in the present moment.” Please see below for full tour details. Prior to the album’s release, Vice’s music site Noisey premiered it in its entirety and stated that HEAVY META “is Fun and Dark and Garage and Psychedelic and Nice as Hell.” Read their Q&A with Gallo HERE. NPR Musicpreviously premiered the video for his single “Please Yourself,” which can be seen HERE. On the night of Saturday, November 19th, 2016 Ron, his band, and director Joshua Shoemaker loaded a PA system and bolted their gear to a small wooden stage in the back of a Ford F-150 truck and shot the video in the middle of downtown Nashville’s busiest intersection. Shot entirely in one take, NPR Music stated “In the spoken-word manifesto Gallo delivers before jumping on the truck, he raises an eyebrow at his generation for creating legacies that add up to no more than ‘an impressive collection of digital remarks.’ Gallo’s noisy tricksterism is designed to counter such surface stuff. He succeeded for three-minutes plus on Lower Broadway; this kid, the video portends, can and might do anything.” Additionally, American Songwriter premiered the video for the album track “Kill The Medicine Man,” which can be seen HERE, while Brooklyn Vegan premiered the first video from the record for “Young Lady, You’re Scaring Me” HERERon Gallo HEAVY META Track Listing:

The Jesus Lizard confirm appearance at Houston's Day For Night Festival in December

THE JESUS LIZARD CONFIRMED TO PLAY HOUSTON'S DAY FOR NIGHT FESTIVALFESTIVAL TAKES PLACE DECEMBER 15 - 17Photo by Joshua Black Wilkins

The Jesus Lizard have have announced they will perform for the first time in eight years with an appearance during the Day For Night Festival happening in Houston,TX December 15 - 17.  More information on the festival is available here and tickets are here
"Seminal" and "legendary" are two overused press release words we try to avoid.  But for the uninitiated and for those looking for easy answers, they both accurately describe the Jesus Lizard.  Since their inception in late-80s Austin, the band has been an influence on countless rock bands that followed.   Pitchfork  notes, "the Jesus Lizard raised a bar that few bands have reached since...Rarely does a band have each member adding something essential to such a united, ferocious whole."  Live, the Jesus Lizard are matchless -  Stereogum  have called them "one of the greatest live bands ever" and  The New York Times  has used the words "extravagantly good" while  Rolling Stone  speaks of the band's "shattering live performances." Their debut albumHead was released in 1990 by Touch and Go and before they officially broke up in 1999 they had released five more LPs - the final being 1998's Blue.  During that time they toured endlessly and released not only the critically acclaimed studio LPs but also assorted singles, EPs, compilations and a live album.
2008 saw the band regroup and the following year they toured the world with dates that included a slot at the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago and All Tomorrow's Parties in the UK and New York.  The Jesus Lizard have not played together live since 2009.   The Jesus Lizard are David Yow (vox), Duane Denison (guitar), David Wm. Sims (bass) and Mac McNeilly (drums).

William Patrick Corgan Announces Pillbox, A Silent Film Set To Music From Forthcoming Solo Album Ogilala

WILLIAM PATRICK CORGAN ANNOUNCES PILLBOX,A SILENT FILM SET TO MUSIC FROM FORTHCOMING SOLO ALBUM OGILALA
SCREENINGS ANNOUNCED IN LONDON, LOS ANGELES, CHICAGO, AND NEW YORK

Los Angeles, CA - September 20, 2017 - GRAMMY® Award winning, acclaimed singer-songwriter and Smashing Pumpkins frontman, William Patrick Corgan today announced Pillbox, a silent film set to music from his highly-anticipated forthcoming Rick Rubin produced solo album Ogilala, due out October 13, 2017 via BMG. Corgan today also shared the film's official trailer which can be seen HERE.
"I thought it was a different approach to listening to an album, to watch it in essence with a related, albeit non-linear, silent movie. Art is art. And together the two pieces create a work unto itself," shared Corgan on the film's connection to his new album.

Inspired by a hero's journey, Pillbox was written by Corgan, and directed by Corgan alongside longtime collaborator Linda Strawberry. The film is a Strawberry-Blank Assassin Production and stars: Harry Holmes, Rai Quartley, Anna Steers, Kalpana Pot, Hardeep Manak, Los Angela, Paul Seroka, Amelya Hensley, and Ike Catcher.
Corgan today also announced four intimate screenings of the film in London, Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York. Tickets for the screenings will go on sale at this Friday, September 22 at 11:00am PT and will be available HERE. Fans who attend the screenings will receive a limited edition movie poster.

Produced by Rick Rubin and recorded at Shangri La studios in Malibu, Ogilala presents Corgan's distinctive vocals and melodies across a sparse, but rich palette of acoustic guitar, piano, and strings.
The media was quick to praise the sound of "Aeronaut", hailing, "The song itself is unfussy and intimate and, more importantly, Corgan owns the performance with his inimitable voice that few in the '90s would have figured for a romantic lead" (NPR), "'Aeronaut' is stately and bare: an unhurried piano riff outlines both beat and melody, while glinting strings occasionally rise to meet the keening, nasal lead vocal from Corgan" (Rolling Stone), "['Aeronaut'] is dominated by dramatic strings, piano, and, of course, his unmistakable vocals-which still sound pretty great" (Noisey).
Ogilala will be available digitally as well as physically on CD and 180 gram gatefold vinyl. A limited edition opaque blue vinyl will be available directly from Corgan's web store and a limited edition pink vinyl will be available at select indie retailers. The albumis available for pre-order now HERE. Fans who pre-order the album will receive an immediate download of "Aeronaut".
Next month, Corgan will embark on a solo acoustic North American tour that kicks off on October 14th in Brooklyn, NY and wraps up on November 12th in Los Angeles, CA with a four night stint at the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. These intimate performances will see Corgan perform songs from Ogilala, as well as a second set which will span works from his earliest days through his years as the frontman of The Smashing Pumpkins and beyond. Arts Documentary EXTRAORDINARY ORDINARY PEOPLE Opens December 1 in LA

EXTRAORDINARY ORDINARY PEOPLE
A Music-Fueled Journey Through Folk and Traditional Arts in America
Opening Los Angeles on December 1 at Laemmle's Music HallFirst Run Features is proud to announce the Los Angeles opening of Extraordinary Ordinary People, a sweeping celebration of the cultures of the world living and thriving in the United States. The feature-length documentary, directed by longtime filmmaker and folklorist Alan Govenar, opened in New York in September to terrific reviews.
At a time when the existence of the National Endowment for the Arts has never been more threatened, Govenar's documentary focuses on one of its least known and most enduring programs: the National Heritage Fellowship, awarded annually since 1982. Featuring a breathtaking array of men and women who have been awarded the fellowship, including musicians, dancers, quilters, woodcarvers and more, the film demonstrates the importance of the folk and traditional arts in shaping the fabric of America. From Bill Monroe and B.B. King to Passamaquoddy basket weavers and Peking Opera singers; from Appalachia and the mountains of New Mexico to the inner city neighborhoods of New York, the suburbs of Dallas, and the isolated Native American reservations of Northern California – each of the artists share exceptional talent, ingenuity, and perseverance.

Govenar began documenting the artists more than 35 years ago. The enormous breadth of his project, which also includes two 52-part radio series for NPR and three books, allowed him to explore in great detail the intersection of disparate cultures – many brought to our shores by immigrants over hundreds of years – with America itself. His film gives insights into how cultures endure, and how cultural expressions evolve but at the same time remain true to their roots in our 21st century connected world.

Some of the artists featured in the film include:
Sheila Kay Adams – Culture: Anglo; Tradition: Ballads, Musician, Singer, Storyteller
Rahim Alhaj – Culture Iraqi; Tradition: Composer, Oud Player
Loren Bommelyn – Culture: Native American Tolowa; Tradition: Artisan, Dancer, Musician
Laverne Brackens – Culture: African American; Tradition: Artisan, Quilter
Charles Carrillo – Culture: Hispanic; Tradition Santero

**Filmmaker Alan Govenar will appear in person on opening weekend**

"Enjoyable and enticing! Govenar's knowledge and affection are contagious...he makes his case for the NEA by asking the simple question: What do we value? In his expansive view of American culture, that includes preserving native languages, recognizing the profundity of the blues, and honoring where we came from and what we've made in equal measure."          - Serena Donadoni, The Village Voice
"A celebration of art, survival, and the riches of human experience. This exuberant film makes each art sampled, from oud playing to basket weaving to bobbin lace making, feel indispensable." - Regina Weinreich, Huffington Post
"'Extraordinary Ordinary People' includes footage of some of the most significant artists of the past century, from bluegrass pioneer Bill Monroe to bluesman B.B. King. With budgets for the arts in peril, it couldn't come at a more opportune time."

Ahead of events at The British Library on 13 October, The Radiophonic Workshop have unveiled previously unreleased music by former colleague, original member and omnipotent queen of electronica Delia Derbyshire.
Named Future Ghosts by the current Radiophonic Workshop, the track is made up of various elements from Delia's lost (and subsequently found) tape archive – over 300 reels discovered in her attic after she died –  worked together into a new track.
