Cults Share "Right Words" -- track off upcoming LP "Offering" Out October 6 Via Sinderlyn. Tour dates kick off October 14!

OFFERING OUT OCTOBER 6 VIA SINDERLYN
NORTH AMERICAN TOUR KICKS OFF OCTOBER 14!photo by Shawn Brackbill
Today Cults share a new single, "Right Words," from their forthcoming album Offering  which is set for release on October 6 via Sinderlyn.  Of the track they note, "We are excited to share 'Right Words,' the third single off of Offering. This song was like the nebula of the album. We worked on it forever because it kept breeding new parts that would go on to be their own tracks.  Musically it's inspired by 80's power pop bands like Cleaners From Venus and R Stevie Moore, and lyrically it's a conversation about not letting abstract ideas of success pollute your brain. Play it loud!"
LISTEN to "Right Words"
Today's single is the follow up to the recent " I Took Your Picture With My Eyes Closed" video, a track that  Billboard  said, "finds the band on a new wave kick that softens the edges from the rock-centric set on 2013's Static."  Previously Cults shared the LP's title track which  SPIN  noted "cuts straight to the heart of what makes a Cults' track great, as singer Madeline Follin offers breathy, reflective vocals."
The NYC-based Cults is Madeline Follin and  Brian Oblivion and Offering marks the band's first LP since the critically acclaimed 2013 album Static.  It also marks the beginning of a more collaborative phase for Cults. The duo have always traded ideas, but for the first time they sat down to jam out ideas together in a room. Follin, who has always written her own parts, came into her own as instrumentalist during the Offering sessions, playing drums and keyboards throughout. Her equal partnership with Oblivion flies in the face of a far-too-common industry assumption that women are passive participants in their own art. Offering also reflects a new confidence in the studio which resulted in the strong, full sound found throughout the album.
Cults will be touring North America with dates starting October 14 in Philadelphia.  Highlights include Brooklyn's Music Hall Of Williamsburg on October 17 and theTeragram Ballroom in Los Angeles on November 7.  The tour concludes November 19 in Baltimore, MD.  Cullen Omori supports from October 14th to November 1st; Curls support from November 3 to November 7; and She-Devils support from November 9 through November 19th.  Advance tickets in participating markets come with a download redemption of the album.  All dates are listed below and tickets on sale now.
Early Acclaim for Offering:
"The lyrics are pure romance. It also benefits from a dreamy-sounding chorus - perfect for the last of these summer days."  Hollywood Life on "I Took Your Picture"
"Follin's polished and bright, tie dyed vocals ripple over a sea of Metric Fantasies-era synth with a spine-bending riff that bring out a new pathos for Cults." KEXP on "I Took Your Picture
"If "I Took Your Picture" is any indication, their upcoming album may continue to feature the hazy-guitar and high-pitched vocals for which they are known."  Baeble
" The new single is heavy on the shimmery, synth vibes - piled with layers upon layers of background 8-bit fuzz, with Madeline Folin's pure, ethereal vocals slicing through the static psych atmosphere." The Key WPXN  on "Offering"
"A mysterious and dark theme, guided by heavy bass and drum beats and lead singer Madeleine Follin's unmistakably angelic vocals." MXDWN on "Offering"
"Take this one out on a night drive, when the world feels alive. Welcome back, Cults."Revolt TV on "Offering"
"glittery, synth-laden"  Consequence of Sound on "Offering"

"An eye-catching move away from what's become the classic Cults sound."  Grimy Goods on "Offering"
"If there's one thing Cults know how to do, it's craft an undeniable hit." Austin Town Hall

POND official website

Today, POND have released their music video for "Colder Than Ice," from their most recent album The Weather.  The video was directed by POND and George Foster and stars Kirin J. Callinan as a dancing cowboy.
WATCH "COLDER THAN ICE" HERE

POND will also be returning to the U.S. in January for their first North American tour in over 6 months. Highlights include Warsaw in Brooklyn on January 11th and a return to Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles on January 24th. Tickets for the U.S. tour go on sale Friday, September 29th. The band is currently on tour in Australia and will tour throughout Asia in November of this year.
The Weather was released earlier this year. Produced by Tame Impala's Kevin Parker-- it captures POND at their finest. Fresh psych-rock soundscapes envelope tales that manage to be sober, surreal, intimate, and out of this world all at the same time. At once both obsessed with today's tumultuous global attitudes ("30000 Megatons") and as detached from them as humanly possible ("Paint Me Silver"),The Weather provides ideal terrain for both engagement and escapism.

Jessica Lea Mayfield's new album "Sorry Is Gone" now streaming exclusively at NPR Music

JESSICA LEA MAYFIELD’S SORRY IS GONE NOW STREAMING EXCLUSIVELY AT  NPR MUSIC NEW ALBUM OUT NEXT FRIDAY ON ATO RECORDSFALL TOUR NOW ON-SALE   photo credit: Ebru Yildiz, album cover“She doesn’t hide or hold back—a raw, fierce attitude runs through the confessional stanzas.”
Jessica Lea Mayfield’s anticipated new album,  Sorry Is Gone , is now streaming in full exclusively at NPR Music’s  First Listen  series. Listen HERE. Of the album, NPR Music’s Tom Moon declares, “She doesn’t hide or hold back—a raw, fierce attitude runs through the confessional stanzas. And there are expressions of anger, too. But Mayfield never lets bitterness become the whole story—she tempers the astringent lyrics of ‘Offa My Hands’ and ‘Wish You Could See Me Now’ with a breezy, beguiling melodic sweetness. There’s a sense of catharsis, but it’s catharsis on pop terms: Sorry Is Gone is the sound of someone who knows exactly how much her baggage weighs, and exactly how much energy it takes to get it out of her way and into the rearview mirror.”Out next Friday, September 29 on ATO RecordsSorry Is Gone is now available pre-order, which includes instant downloads of three album tracks: “Sorry Is Gone,” “Meadow” and “Offa My Hands.”Already receiving widespread acclaim, Stereogum recently debuted the official music video for “Meadow” calling it, “…appealing in its blend of melancholy resignation and defiant self-will” (watch/share HERE.), while NPR Music premiered the video for the title track proclaiming, “Jessica Lea Mayfield is taking back her life. ‘Sorry Is Gone,’ the title track to her next album, is a song of empowerment that finds the singer moving past a difficult period in her life…Despite the weight of that, the song feels breezy, flowing and freeing” (watch/share HERE). Moreover, of the album,LENNY asserts, “Sorry Is Gone is clamorous and dynamic, reflective of Mayfield’s rare gift of seeming equally steady and chameleonic from album to album” and goes on to praise, “Mayfield seems primed to enjoy not only another strong album but to harness its moment in the service of others.”The 11-track record was recorded at Water Music and Electric Lady studios with producer John Agnello (Kurt Vile, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., Phosphorescent). In addition to Mayfield, the album features a variety of world-renowned musicians including Seth Avett on backing vocals and keys, drummer Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth, Sun Kil Moon), bassist Emil Amos (Grails, Holy Sons) and guitarist Cameron Deyell (Sia, Streets of Laredo.) with additional production from Patrick Damphier (The Mynabirds).Of the record, Mayfield comments, “The whole record is about me taking my life back, without really realizing it. I realized I’m the only person that is going to look out for me. I have to be my main person. No one else.” She continues, “I have to sing about things and write about things that have happened to me as therapy. That’s what connects me to other music I listen to. I want music to make me feel things. This is my inner dialogue, and my chance to get the last word.”In support of the release, Mayfield will embark on an extensive tour this fall including shows at NYC’s Baby’s All Right, DC’s Songbyrd, Nashville’s The Basement East and Chicago’s The Empty Bottle among many others. All tickets are now on-sale viahttps://site.jessicaleamayfield.com/tour. See below for complete details.Sorry Is Gone is Mayfield’s first solo album since 2014’s Make My Head Sing…, which was released to widespread acclaim. Of the album, Rolling Stone asserted, “…Mayfield’s echo-laden bluegrass vocals mesh with scorching electric guitar lines to render remarkable results,” while Pitchfork praised, “There’s something certainly compelling about this raw, minimalist sound” and NPR’s Fresh Air proclaimed, “The music is heavy, but it soars.” Additionally Interview Magazinedeclared, “Mayfield sounds like she’s finally arrived” and USA Today affirmed, “Her evolution as an artist has been fascinating to hear.” Most recently, in 2015, Mayfield collaborated with Seth Avett on Seth Avett and Jessica Lea Mayfield Sing Elliott Smith. ExSage Debut New EP 'Total Devotion' via The 405 | Out Tomorrow On All DSPs

EXSAGE DEBUT NEW EP
TOTAL DEVOTION
VIA THE 405
Photo Cred: Nedda AfsariLISTEN & SHARE: ExSage - Total Devotion EP
[embed will be public at 10am EST on Friday, September 22nd]

LISTEN & SHARE: ExSage - "Under Your Spell""Bandleader Kate Clover lets her raw passion and talent take over on every track, offering something that truly snarls and throws punches in all the most pleasing ways." - The 405

"...Clover is slowly revving an engine of chugging bass, sparks of guitar dancing around the fuel that is her Alison Mosshart-does-pop vocals."
- Consequence of Sound

"With their lo-fi, leather jacket vibes, comparisons to bands like The Kills and The Raveonettes are inevitable, but the five-song EP injects those garage bones with engine oil-sludgy desert rock guitars, Clover's big, almost-pop vocals, and a touch of Nick Cave ominousness."
Noisey

"...their sticky sweet harmonies amidst a chunky, guitar driven sound stands out with an undeniable raw fervor."
Grimy Goods

"...comes at you like a desert-baked version of indie guitar-slingers like the Duke Spirit, the Kills...Or maybe X on a road trip in the wilderness beyond Joshua Tree.”
Buzzbands LA
Today, LA-based, desert punk band, ExSage, debut their follow up EP, Total Devotion, via The 405 in advance of the official release tomorrow. The 405 praised the release in their exclusive premiere, describing it as "a barrage of crushing guitars and addictive melodies that you will find yourself playing on repeat for days to come." The EP will be available on all DSPs tomorrow, September 22nd.

Total Devotion was sparked by a midnight drive through Los Angeles after Kate Clover (singer/guitarist) heard Suicide’s Ghost Rider on a left-of the-dial station. Clover returned home and feverishly wrote, she was a woman on a mission and that mission was to be ruthlessly true to herself no matter the cost. The EP’s juxtaposing sound is also inspired by, PJ Harvey, Let Love In era Nick Cave and Black Sabbath. Lyrically, the EP touches on French Surrealism - using Charles Baudelaire and Arthur Rimbaud's poetic styles for reference. Lead single "Under Your Spell" is inspired by the late 70s punk band Suicide, and presents the blues against pulsing synths that takes a Sabbath like turn. Lead single "Under Your Spell," debuted via Consequence Of Soundwho state, "Take that vexing desire and bake it under the desert sun, and you’ve got ExSage’s new single “Under Your Spell”." The track comes from the band's forthcoming EP, Total Devotion, out September 22nd. The EP was recorded in Los Angeles with engineer Jon Gilbert (The Kills, OFF!). Second single "Come Alive" is about coming into your own. It’s about, facing what your fear most in order to feel alive. The track features a psychedelic, stoner bass line and roaring synths. Third single "So Intertwined" is the slow burner on the EP, an invitation to look beyond the horizon. Total Devotion is the follow-up to the band's 2016 debut EP, Out of the Blue, produced by Alain Johannes (PJ Harvey, Queens Of The Stone Age).

Reinforcing her new spark, Clover played every instrument on the EP (except drums), which empowered her to be fearless. When it came time to assemble a live band Clover knew it had to be all female, an aspect she felt she had overlooked in the past as being the sole female member. A symbolic change, that marks a new era for the project with hopes of inspiring other females to pursue what they believe in. Their debut EP, Out of the Blue, was picked up by NoiseyAll Things Go and various LA tastemakers like LA WeeklyGrimy Goods and Buzzbands LA. TOUR DATES

Peter Matthew Bauer Announces New LP + Shares Single On Stereogum | 'Mount Qaf (Divine Love)' LP Out 11/10

Peter Matthew Bauer Announces New LP + Shares Single
On Stereogum

'Mount Qaf (Divine Love)' LP Out 11/10 On Fortune Tellers/Kobalt Photo Cred: Kellen Nordstrom LISTEN/WATCH & SHARE: Peter Matthew Bauer - "Khidr (American Drifter Music)"
Soundcloud | YouTube
"...a dusty, churning anthem, a song that sounds like it was lost to the years and then exhumed in ragged, sepia-toned grandeur."
- StereogumToday Stereogum has announced the new LP from Peter Matthew Bauer. It is entitled 'Mount Qaf (Divine Love)' and it will be out 11/10 on Fortune Tellers/Kobalt Music. Along with the announcement the site also shared the first single "Khidr (American Drifter Music)". 'Mount Qaf (Divine Love)' is the follow-up to Peter's 2014 release 'Liberation!'.
Peter Matthew Bauer is an American singer and recording artist born in 1978 in Washington DC.  He has had a strange, storied and original career. A founder of seminal New York art rock band the Walkmen, he released 6 full length albums with the band before his first solo LP Liberation! in 2014. Concurrently, Peter moved to Los Angeles and founded two organizations: the artist management/production label Fortune Tellers Music and the Laurel Canyon Center For Consciousness Studies, focusing on his esoteric work as a writer and astrologer and drawing influence from different schools of eastern philosophy along with the work of Carl Jung, Alejandro Jodorowsky and the western phenomenologist and Islamic scholar Henry Corbin.

Mount Qaf (Divine Love) an album of esoteric love songs. It is a singular cycle of music and a strangely primitive and direct rock & roll performance that goes beyond genre into something more contemporary and strange. Working with co-producer Nick Stumpf,  Peter Matthew Bauer envisioned Mount Qaf as made up of 10 love songs, each filled with a desperate, skeptical and highly personal form of mysticism. Driven both by his own synchronistic outlook on life, as well as the discovery of a worn out copy of a Henry Corbin book on the Sufi master Ib’n Arabi, the songs arise from a central idea of human love and poetic insight seen as a literal shift from concrete objective reality into a further dimension, a transitory realm of light and imagination that supersedes all forms of fundamentalism and rationality. It is less the sound of a musical craftsman and more the sound of an artist trying to make sense of the world as it rises and falls all around him. On November 10, 2017, Peter Matthew Bauer will release Mount Qaf (Divine Love) and tour alongside it in America & Europe. He resides in Los Angeles.Tracklisting - Mount Qaf (Divine Love)

NEW LYRIC VIDEO

CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED NEW ALBUM  HIPPOPOTAMUS  OUT NOW

"One treats high art as nonsense, the other treats nonsense as high art: a perfect description, perhaps, of the cultural dialectic which drives Sparks' protean creativity." - The Independent - 5 stars

'Missionary Position' is taken from the band's UK Top 10 album Hippopotamus. Released September 8, 2017 Hippopotamus is the second highest-charting UK album of the band's career, behind 1974's Number 4-peaking Kimono My House

Angel Olsen Announces ‘Phases’ AN ODDS & SODS LP FOR THE AGES

Angel Olsen Announces ‘Phases’AN ODDS & SODS LP FOR THE AGES

And just like that, she’s back.
On Nov. 10,
Angel Olsen
will release Phases, a collection of B-sides, rarities, and demos from the past several years, including a number of never-before released tracks. Balancing tenacity and tenderness, Phases is a deep-dive for longtime fans and a fitting introduction to Olsen’s sprawling sonics for the uninitiated few. From the lo-fi, sparse folk-melancholy of her 2010 EP, Strange Cacti, to the electrified, polished rock ‘n’ roll bursting from last year’s beloved and acclaimed MY WOMAN, which won The A2IM Libera Awards’ Album of the Year, Olsen has refused to succumb to a single genre, expectation, or vision. Impossible to pin down, she navigates the world with her remarkable, symphonic voice and a propensity for narrative, her music growing into whatever shape best fits to tell the story.Phases opens with “Fly On Your Wall,” previously contributed to the Bandcamp-only Our First 100 Days fundraiser, before seamlessly slipping into “Special,” a brand new song from the MY WOMAN recording sessions. Both “How Many Disasters” and “Sans” are first-time listens: home-recorded demos that have never been released, leaning heavily on Olsen’s arresting croon and lonesome guitar. The B-sides compilation is both a testament to Olsen’s enormous musical range and a tidy compilation of tracks that have previously been elusive in one way or another.Pre-order Phases –https://angelolsen.lnk.to/phases
