I thought this was going to be a funny book, but I'm actually getting frustrated? I'm only on chapter 3, but so far I'm not liking his mom as this book progresses. She made him throw away a Christmas present from his grandparents (dad's side) because his siblings didn't get any. And the logic here is that his white grandparents are his real family; the brown people are. WTF??

So let me get this straight ... the "violently abusive" schizophrenic half-brother was treating his adoptive dad as a punching bag, and they're mad when the dad left? His mom coddled the brother so much, not getting him the help he needs (granted this was the 70s), so why couldn't she afford the same grace to the man who adopted her kids and never raised a hand to the one kid who kept beating him up?

Holiday Romance was going well, but it just had to end with more questions than answers, and I'm quickly finding myself NOT having fun reading this book.
