It was really drawn out considering how little actually happened. Didn’t love Maggie as a character and just felt so bad for Danny, poor bastard. Her constant mention of aging and how old she is and how invisible being old makes her was just really weird and took me out of the story. I don’t know if Tess is working through something but I found it weird. Wish there was more about the actual martini club though

I didn’t super love this one. Admittedly life has been crazy hectic so my reading of it has been really disjointed but still it was just a bit underwhelming. I loved the idea of retired spies all living in a small town but I feel like we really didn’t get to see them much because so much of this book was just flashbacks, whole chapters of just the past so nothing actually happened in the present timeline.

Super intense read with high stakes and a fast paced case. Great characters and great writing. Definitely keen to read more by this author. 4.5

I thought the captain was a badass boss and the scientist was ballsy and really quite brave given his situation, but the parts with Charlie and Lamb were definitely my favourite. Charlie was a really interesting character, cool to think about the psychy and reality of an undercover cop.The dynamic between him and the rookie was real good too, old dog and young gun.Lamb annoyed me just a little towards the end though

This was a wild ride! Sooo good though! I loved it. The hostage situation was super intense but I think them burning the evidence samples really raised the stakes for me, you were genuinely invested and filled with dread for how it’d all turn out. All the charcoal were really interesting too and I liked that it jumped between them during the chapters to see different sides of the case.

I loved Arthur, and liked Opal too, and the progression of their relationship was quite sweet in their broken little way. I liked that they chose each other over and over. Reading the same origin story from many perspectives was cool too, to see the details of truth throughout them all. A very good ending. Great characters, good writing and some very intriguing world building, loved it.

I really enjoyed this one! I really liked the way it was written and the whole gothic spooky/ fairytale vibe was pretty cool. I loved the house, very much a gothic encanto kinda thing, and it’s relationship with both Arthur and Opal. I liked the little footnotes and illustrations too, very cool added details. I liked the fantasy side of the story but I liked the town conspiracy side too with the suited baddies.

This their entire lives? Ridiculous! And she just made 17 look like a dipshit which I hated. It did pick up a bit and 17 did have some real badass moments but the ending was rubbish. If he was going to go out in a blaze of glory then fine, but why do that and then have him limp away only to be killed by stupid Kat! I’m not reading about her as 18! How is she supposedly the best now? She doesn’t know anything!!

Kat really ruined this for me though, she’s just such an awful character! And she’s so toxic and horrible to 17! Are we supposed to be routing for that?! And I’m sorry but she’s a super genius computer hacker now? After living her whole life in a town with no fucking internet?! How does that work. Her being a badass after only 6 months pissed me off so much, when she’s up against people who’ve been doing

Not the best start to the year, this was really disappointing given how much I really enjoyed the first one. It just felt like it took a really long time for 17 to get his shit together and actually be a badass, it’s like he forgot that he even was badass. And I feel like the storyline with his daughter was handled weirdly, she was hardly in it at all but supposedly was enough to change his whole character.

Also not a fan of the whole dragon fated mates business, that was just really uncomfortable. Definitely skimmed to the end. The whole tone was just weird, bloody Romatasy. The combo of full on violence and horniness was just truly bizarre. And Dain was just the worst! Big girls blouse. Will not be reading the rest haha

That could’ve given her a interesting growth, but was almost immediately forgotten and everything following was just handed to her because she was the main character. She had the most insane plot armour I’ve ever seen! And I didn’t find the relationship between her and xaden good at all, it took half the boom for them to have a handful of awkward interactions and then boom their in love.

The academy was infuriating to me! They taught them Jack shit and so many people died when they didn’t have to if they’d just had a single teacher there actually doing their job. I don’t know why they bothered ‘training’ them at all? Just give them a dragon and pop them on the front line immediately it’d be just as effective. I found violet really boring as a character, she had issues at the start…

I know everyone loved this book but I hated it! I struggled through for rhibutt but my god it was ridiculous. The world building was so weak and fell apart if you thought about it for more than 3 seconds, there was too much going on magic wise, why could they do anything at all with no rules. Also nothing really happened given how much time passed in this book.

I would’ve like more about his past growing up at the carnival and more interactions with the people there because I think that was the best part. I liked him with his friend and goddaughter. The crimes were really grisly and the twist at the end was a bit far fetched. It was an alright read, just a bit of a weird mystery.

This was alright, I liked it, but I don’t know it’s anything to write home about. I feel like it had real potential but just fell a bit. Jericho was an interesting character but just a bit of a mess and I feel like Harry was suspiciously ok with all his issues, a normal person wouldn’t be. I feel like as well we were constantly told he was sherlokian but he never actually solved shit he just wandered about.
