The two of them worked so well together to balance each other out. So keen for this friendship. I had hunches about the ending but it all unfolded really well and still had me surprised in parts. A really twisty dark mystery with great writing and cool characters, can’t wait to read more!

This was so good!! It hooked me in right away, I read it in like two days it was so good. The crimes were pretty bloody brutal but the characters were super interesting and the dynamics between them was great. Also super cool to read about the English equivalent of the fbi, definitely a different feel to an American crime story. I thought Poe was a really interesting main character, and Tilly was super cool too.

Nice to reread the book version of the characters because I’ll be honest the books and movies have really blended in my mind. Not as much Ron and hermione as I remembered but we’re still finding out feet. Hagrid is wonderful though. Im sorry but that detention scene in the forest is complete bullshit though! A lot of fun and keen to read more though.

Started a reread, first time I’ve actually read it on my own I think. I really enjoyed it, lots of nostalgia obviously, but it was actually still a very fun read. Harry’s such a little sweetheart, I just love him. He’s so excited to have friends and to be at hogwarts learning. Nice to reread the book version of the characters because I’ll be honest the books and movies have really blended in my mind.

I liked his and James parts together too. Will be interesting to see where this goes as things aren’t looking good for our heroes at the moment.

and a bit more about the dark kings past which was really interesting.
Feel like most of the new characters added really didn’t add anything at all like the lion tamer and the bandit king but maybe they’ll be more important later. Will was still mvp for me, him exploring his magic more was very cool although his scrying/mind melding was pretty scary, that doesn’t seem like a good thing.

I feel like it was a bit choppy and all over the place because there were so many new povs and seperate storyline’s, as the characters were more spread out which wasn’t my favourite. I don’t give a shit about Elizabeth or the Champion even remotely so their chapters were a slog.
Got a bit more info about the old world and the different factions and magic in this one though which was cool,

Well it all went to shit, as I knew it would. I just feel so bad for Will, he did so well as a leader this book while trying to sort out all his internal struggles and everyone really respected him only to immediately turn on him at the end because of the word of some stupid random. Im so disappointed in everyone, especially Violet! This one had a weirder pace than the first one,

I liked how they grew closer throughout the book as they understood more about each other. The mystery was very twisty turny too and had a very good ending. And Din having a thing with the captain was quite sweet, I feel like they both deserved that, hope he comes back in the other books. A very good read, keen to read more about this pair.

I really loved Din, I thought he was great! I liked seeing him grow into himself as an investigator and gain confidence and the respect of those around him. I would have like more interactions between him and Ana, rather than him discovering everything without her and just relaying it to her later, seemed an odd choice. But their dynamic was really fun and sweet in how exasperated he is with her.

Once I wrapped my head around the world building it was such an interesting and unique fantasy world, definitely more sci fi vibes than magic, think using technology to make cyborgs but with plants and fungi. The augmentations were really interesting and the ramifications this still had, I actually liked that they had draw backs, people weren’t just superheroes, there was a trade off for their abilities.

I feel like it took me a minute to get my head into this one. When people had said it had a Sherlock and Watson vibe I think I was thinking Victorian London but with magic but that is not at all the case here. I get why people say it reminds them of Sherlock and Watson, Ana does have a similar vibe but I think they absolutely hold their own as their own characters.
