It's amazing how much progress you can make when you can devote a whole day to reading.

Really glad I planned to read this on a week of vacation as I can read it in big chunks. Clearly a benefit as I think I might have hated it if I could only read it in small pieces over weeks and have the story drag on forever.

Maybe I'm not doing this book justice, I can't say I'm not interested in it, but find it wordy and want to have read it more than read it. And I am not exactly sure why that is and if it's me or something in the book cueing those feelings.

Ever notice that a series can not really be read like one big book most times? The transition of the next book is always there, sometimes more noticeable than in others. Here I felt it quite hard.
It goes away after a few paragraphs, but still I felt my mind stumble.

I love how this is written!

I'm awfull! I'm starting to lose interest just as the tournament starts. It's a strange mixture of stressing about the things I think might happen and not really caring about the events.

Is there a love triangle on the horizon? Please no, don't want that.

Getting back into the world and characers it really flys by. I forgot how easy it reads.

Halfway through this is not what I expected. Not impressed by the writing, really find it hard to not be annoyed by the narrator and curious where the second half will take things.

Thinking about not finishing this.

Listening to the audiobook narrated by the author and although it is so well narrated, I think I didn't get all the names and details. On the other side his interpretation of his words adds so much to the words. Highly impactful.

So many thoughts and feels going on while reading this.

Really enjoy the writing so far.

I didn't expect this to be so boring and the narrator to be so annoying and arrogant/superior. Really just rushing through it on audio.

This is perpetuating the standard idea of leaving your body after death, floating into the light and meeting up with friends. But there is more, you get a feedback talk with your guide about your life; uddenly life feels like a shitty job to me. Also the book is clearly against suicide: if you committed suicide your soul will get sent back on earth to face the same struggles again! Now that's just mean!

I picked this up on a recommendation from someone who counts this among the books that changed their life.
I only read the introduction so far and cannot see that having the same effect on me, as it might be feeding my fears of an afterlife. I am not afraid of death, but that death is not the end.

I keep forgetting that these books are not simple fly through reads, but play with words and that I need to pay attention to not miss the humour.

not exactly what I expected, still very good.

I like the parts where we travel with Gerald, can barely follow the war parts away from him, and not sure what the sorceresses (?) are doing.

So many good things happening in this one. What a relief after the dragging third book in the series.

One and a half chapters in I enjoy the writing or the narration, but I am wondering if I actually care about the story at this point anymore. The war and politics is mostly background noise for me and I can't keep up with characters and their alliances at all.

This is going so much better than The Iron Jackal already.

Almost done. This book is just not bingeable and I think that is my biggest complaint, that I am not invested in it.

I really don't like Ashua and couldn't care less about her back story.

It's action packed, but somehow I am bored/annoyed by Frey being Frey. It feels like I am over this type of male stalk figure hero. Also so much violence and racial hate/prejudice/superiority in this one already.
At the same time it feels unfair to moan about it as all the issues are addressed by the author in the narrative.

Trying to remember who's who and what happened before. Grateful for the reintroduction of the characters that so annoy me when I remember. Perspective is all.

About halfway through and it is so well done. Love the narrative voice and how his growing up is often juxtaposed with what he learned later and historical/political background information.

Rereads are the best! You know the story and thus can focus on other things. I forgot how much Austen points out that Wickham is believed because he is good looking. Over and over again.

Really enjoying her thoughts and following them move around.
