I love the wriiting. So for only finished the novella the book is named after. I love the atmosphere and look on life and love and loneliness. How have I not read anything by her before?

this is not clicking with me. I'm mostly detached, not involved and not sure how I feel about continuing.

This is me starting over on this book. I read 80 pages years ago and put it down then. I find myself as back then enjoying the writing and involved in the story to a degree, but it is an easy read to take breaks from. It's not a page turner and I don't know if that is connected to me having seen the movie ages ago and the story is familiar to me. Will see if I finish this time around.

Oh this has beatuiful writing. It's very slow and descriptive but transports me to the (for me) completely unfamiliar scenery and life.

I can highly relate to the characters desire to have a mindless menaingless easy job and find it hilarious what kind of jobs she ends up in.

This is relatable, funny and refreshing in the jobs she takes on and her experiences. Glad I started it this week.

This is a lot funnier than I had expected. The English audiobook turns out to have been a great choice for a second attempt at reading this.

Tempted to DNF as I am utterly uninterested in anything going on.

After failing my attempt at reading the German translation I think the English audiobook is working much better already.

And now I want to try dorayaki. So much talk about making the sweat bean paste up to now. Books talking about food should come with a food box so you can cook/eat along!

I think the narrative device of having an author pipe in every now and then is overused and thus annoying.

I love the writing and the messy character. Halfway through and not sure where things are going or what this is really about.

The first two stories (Das Urteil, Die Verwandlung) were rereads, not sure how many of the others I've read before. Feel I need to look up interpretations for deeper understanding, as currently can't figure things out myself :(

So far I am really enjoying the writing and the story, despite having no clue where it wants to take me.

It's easy to listen to, very informative and probably smack in the middle of my echo chamber. So clearly not challenging beliefs but neither introducing new concepts, yet.

I've been bad at updating this one here. The chapters are linked by the hotel and the characters have had a brief connection as well. I like the idea and the single stories, but it is no page turner keeping you glued to the pages. Two more chapters to go, curious if there will be a conclusion.

Enjoying the writing, but haven't formed thoughts on what it wants to tell yet.

Actively struggling, this just doesn't match it feels very disconnected, basically everything she changed or added is not necessary to tell the story and feels like a mismatched graft.

Struggling to find my way into the book. Not sure why.

Okay, this has taken a turn to I don't know where.

Going into this blind I was as clueless as the main character what's bad about books and couldn't stop until I got at least a hint at what a binder does. Needless to say I'm hooked.

I treid reading this since highschool multiple times, the farthest I got was 45 pages without understanding a word. But I always wanted to read it and when I saw the audiobook read by Ethan Hawke I decided to give it another go. And I love it! Ethan Hawke is doing a great job giving this the tone I associate with Kerouac. I can follow the text for the first time and am consumed by it.

This reads really well and has me thinking already.

Listened to a long stretch this morning and as soon as we left the Witcher and got lost in politics and characters I don't care about again, my mind went drifting. I hope I don't really need the information at the end.

This is suffering a bit from me getting lost in too many characters and descriptions.

Finally continuing this series. It started off with more of Ciri's story and that was nice.

A cover buy and wondering if that was a good choice. Following a douchebag from one alcohol binge to the next constantly talking about brands...

Following a new character, nice change of pace.

I love the narration and can relate so much to the restless main character. Not sure where it's going, but enjoying it very much.
