I'm not sure I've encountered a stupider, more vapid, and unlikable protagonist. Rebecca, "Bex," is so horrible that reading this book is like driving by a horrible train wreck and being inexplicably unable to pull your eyes from the carnage. Maybe if she was a shopaholic who spent all her money on books or art supplies, I'd "get" her angst. But the shoes and clothes thing utterly baffles me. Bex is such a moron.

Typical British chick lit in that it implies that all young women in the U.K. are, A) raging alcoholics, and B), stark raving mad.

Interesting, but populated by characters who aren't particularly likable.

Meh. Bully feels over the top, even for a bully, and the situation is too contrived. Just not feeling much for the protagonist's plight. Honestly? Bored.

At 53 percent and so far the h/H haven't jumped on each other like lust monkeys and instead are, like, you know, actually getting to know each other? Promising.

Stuck at this point because the Silver Surfer is bleh, boring.

So, like, whoa, this is so far, kinda good. Like, no insta-lust/love, a strong sense of place (China), and the hero isn't suffering from testosterone poisoning. Hmmm....Will it end up disappointing?

No sparkly vampires. Check. Female protagonist with a sense of self agency. Check. Strong relationship with another female character. Check. No insta-love. Check. Not bad, so far.

If anything bad happens to Oberon the wolfhound, this book gets a one star, flaming review. Love Oberon.

Enthralling, so far....

Cute, so far. Sometimes feels like it's trying a little too hard to be cute.

Readable, but still falling into the "Meh" category.

Not for the faint of heart, but I like Miriam's balls-to-the-walls, crass approach to everything.

Erotic romance is soo not my thing, but this was free and it's short. The story surrounding the romance (murder mystery) and the heroine's mental issue (can't remember faces, ever) are good. Skimming sex scenes, of course....

Um, still in the "it's okay" camp with this one. Like Jenny's fierce spirit, but story sometimes feels disjointed.

Sigh. Poor Loki....

It's okay, but one of the more typo ridden self-pubs I've encountered. Some of the typos suggest that the story was originally written first person then switched to third.

So far, full of zany hilarity.

I find the prose a little flat....

Still chugging along on this one. The author does have a good storyteller's voice.

Weird. Even though The Book Thief is probably technically a better book (better being subjective), this is more engaging.
