I'm never going to finish reading that damned urban fantasy (Bad Blood) because I keep getting distracted. This is the latest shiny thing.

Engaging voice, but there's a lack of urgency and emotional availability that is making reading this novel a real slog.

Tony Robbins. Just the name of that fakey-McFake Shyster give me the heeby jeebies.

Though there are striking differences, the first comparison that comes to mind reading this is the movie Equilibrium where the premise is that all "disruptive" emotions--love, hate, etc.--are suppressed.

*Shrug* It's okay.

Not a fan of team sports --'tho hockey is tolerable--so I'm floored by how much I'm into these two characters and this book.

Easy-to-read for the easily distracted, protag is genuinely amusing, but it's unclear, at the beginning, whether or not she already believes in gods and magical things. Lack of internal consistency.

Because it has good press and any other fantasy is going to suffer in comparison to Dreams of Gods & Monsters.

"Currently Reading" is a bit of a stretch since I started this, then got totally immersed in Dreams of Gods & Monsters. I'll finish this...eventually.

Sensing an interesting vibe between Ziri and Liraz. Could it be possible he isn't doomed? Waaay to early to hope, though.

I know it won't work out that way, but I'm team Ziri. Poor Ziri. As the third wheel in the pseudo-love triangle, he's likely doomed.

It's tropey, derivative, cliche, etc., but I'm still zipping through this novel, because...Holly Black.

This is a vampire book? I mean, that's okay, I just had no idea it was about vampires.

This is likely gonna represent the break in a string of 4-star reviews. Point of fact, I feel a rant coming on. It's readable, but not at very good.

Yay! Stuff is finally happening. Hoping Tan will "redeem" himself by dying. Unlikely, though. My guess is he's going to stick around as Kaden's mentor. Ugh.

Not bad, but it would be nice if the story would make a definite move to get the three siblings, or at least Kaden and Valyn, out of their current situation and off to like, I dunno, start the adventure. Feels like too much hand waving and dinkering around.

And...they're fucking again. This might be a halfway interesting urban fantasy if the two leads weren't in insta-love and constantly fucking. Maybe they should figure out who's killing all those innocent young women rather than shagging. And "Bones?" Seriously? What kind of a name is that?

Probably because the endless hormone-soaked droolfest of the romances I'm also reading is killing my libido, but I'm really enjoying this so far.

The two romances I'm reading are b.o.r.i.n.g. Going back to my native habitat--epic fantasy.

Why is "blushing" not part of seduction? Given the pervy-skeevy nature of the vamps that Bones is selecting as marks, Cat's occasional "virginal" reactions should attract like flies on a corpse.

Still early, but methinks rumor is indeed full of shit. Absence of a sense of place gives the overall story a kind of blandness.
