Thus far, holy shit, thought-provoking good.

Tackling some of the older backlog on my Kindle. Had a good run with YA lately, but...contemporaries are always iffy.

Dragons! Nuff said.

Well, wadda-ya-know? I like it so far.

"In wood where the woodsmen told lies, maybe it was the wolves who told the truth." No matter the woods, the woodsmen always lie. Trust the wolves, kid.

Now adding "vomit zombies" to my vocabulary.

Space battles, gun fights, weird alien diseases! Awesome!

Not bad at all...stuff is happening, things are exploding, there's a clear and present plot. What I'd expect from a space opera.

Sweet and poignant, so far.

No idea what percentage I'm at which is sort of vexing; reading a free version of this book that was included with another novel. Anyway, so far it reads like a fun space "opry."

I don't hate it so far, which is promising given the bad luck I've had with YA lately.

Werewolf transformation, wrong, as usual. NO. The human knee joint would not pop and bend backwards. Why? Because that "backwards" bending joint already exists (in humans). It's called the ankle. Ish!

Oh, crap. Am I STILL reading this? It's so...cutesy. I need to go read Hunger Games, something with depth.

The dialogue between Eliza, Inspector Griffin, and Lafayette positively crackles with tension, sexual and otherwise. Fun.

This is fluffier than a basket of kittens. (In this case, not a good thing.)

Most of the books I've read lately have been suck puppies. Hoping this is an upturn in the trend.

Compared to Lara Jean, of "To All the Boys I've Love Before," Mori is so much more a real person. What a dif good characterization makes.

"I did not buy a book called Lord Foul's Bane by Stephen Donaldson, which has the temerity to compare itself, on the front cover, to Tolkien at his best. ... It isn't a comparison anyone could make, except to say, 'Compared to Tolkien at his best, this is dross." ~The point where I decide, whatever happens, I really like this kid. And yes, Lord Foul's Bane is dross. Utter dross.

Oh, and Lara Jean's little sister, Kitty, is a nasty little bitch. Am I supposed to think she's cute? Not.

Not connecting with the protagonist, Lara Jean, because she's so bland. Not a reader, not into sports, not passionate about anything. Just sort of exists. Bleh.

The twee is strong with this one.

So far, I'm not impressed.
