So... This is a mix between "A Darker Shade of Magic" and Mistborn Era 2?
And I'm so fucking here for it.

Also, I love the way the narrator pronounces "Giant murder-bird". And the fact that something like giant murder-birds exist.

Okay, so far, it's fucking cool, interestingly magical and pretty adorable at times. Only that bird seems a bit out of place.

"Hey, there's an apocalypse. I should get pregnant and keep the babies."

Like... Yeah. She'd be completely dead if she wasn't pregnant. No doubt about that. But really.

About ten percent in and once again, the Steelheart-sickness strikes. A main character who's just completely obsessed with the one thing that's magical about the world. "Rithmatism is so important" "Rithmatists are so cool" "Rithmatists Rhithmatist".

Re-Listening because a) working alone in silence is boring, b) I have it on Audible and c) it's a phenomenal book.

This is the fifth time I'm actually trying to listen to this but my mind just keeps drifting away. I don't know if that's a side-effect of me listening to it on YouTube or something like that, but it really doesn't exactly improve the experience.

I really want to like this book, but maybe it's just not my thing.

Don't know if I'm just nitpicking at this point but I hate the fact that the french names are pronounced in English but all of the people still seem to have a french accent. There's no logical reason for it to be that way. Why does it have to be that way?

Ich hätte echt keinen Fart-Joke gebraucht.
Generell isses halt so ne Gradwanderung zwischen wissenschaftlichen Fakten und einem etwas zu... simplen Sinn für Humor.
Ein wenig verarscht fühlt man sich halt zuweilen schon.

War grad auf Deutsch da, also lese ichs halt auf Deutsch. Wenn im Laufe dieses Efforts die englische Version in der Bibliothek auftaucht, greif ich mir die.

It's taking me forever to read the last fifty pages, but I just have to say that I love these two sides of Odysseus' story.

I may be a sucker for magic languages and the way those work in Gaimans books. But this part is just fucking beautiful.

I feel like I'm missing out a bit on the whole "octarine is a mythical, non-imaginable color"-thing. Just because, in my mind, the number 8 is inherently connected with the color purple.
Which isn't bad. Purple is a nice color. It just kinda dampens the magic-aspect.

But I gotta say, it did get better. I'm not constantly giggling, but I'm... smiling from time to time.

OH FOR FUCKS SAKE NO. NO I REFUSE. WHY IN THE NAME OF ALL HOLY FUCKS DOES THIS CHARACTER HAVE TO BE INTRODUCED. If this becomes the next "Phobia" during the next 30%, I'm going to lose my shit. Or... lose it even more.

I really don't see how the knowledge of your death-date is in any way, shape or form an actual improvement. Every single death-description just sounds like a self-fullfilling prophecy to me. People don't die because they were going to die, but because they thought they were going to die and tried to counteract it. Really doesn't click for me.

I really don't know why I can't seem to connect with this story. Maybe it's because there's just way too much input and too many perspectives which all seem a bit... inconsequential? I know, that's not a fair statement considering I've not even read a quarter of the book.
But everytime I try to read a few pages, I really struggle to detangle everything Pratchett is trying to squeeze onto the page.

Am I just imagining it or does Jesper have somewhat of a crush on Wylan?
I'm not saying I'm against it, but I think I'm sensing a bit of a pattern here.

I really don't like Matthias. And I suspect I'm gonna like him even less as time goes on.

This really might be the most satisfying battle-scene ever. Even better than the siege on Luthadel or the last battle in Mistborn Era 1.
