Only five players left and things are getting good! I was really surprised by one of the characters' deaths. I was kind of expecting Katniss and a few other characters to eventually rebel against the Games, leading into them being on the run from the Capitol for the rest of the trilogy. Now I'm wondering if the next two books feature different characters, because if not is Katniss going to picked every single time?

Now that the games are under way, I am officially hooked. I like the way Collins doesn't portray Katniss as some ditzy lovesick teenager. Go, Katniss, go!

Let the games begin! I'm enjoying it thus far, even though I find Collins "voice" to be a bit impersonal. The world she's created is an interesting one, but Katniss and Peeta don't have the most exciting personalities thus far.

I'm not going to lie, this is interesting, but I can't help but wonder how much of this is based on facts and isn't just an attempt to justify the South for being on the wrong side of history. This really paints the Northern government in a bad light.

The first chapter was extremely dull, but some of the information revealed in the last few chapters has been interesting. This book makes Lincoln out to be a complete asshole, or at least a ruthless tactician.

I'm not sure what to make thus far. Is Segars genuine in his defending of Andersonville, or is this all just him trying to whitewash the atrocious conditions of the prison? I know the victors write history and aren't necessarily truthful, but does Segars know the people he's quoting in the book aren't also lying to try and make themselves sound less like villains?

As much as I'm enjoying the banter between the characters, I'll be glad when I no longer have to read about Christian touching Ana "there" or hear the phrase "my inner goddess" ever again.

I'm enjoying the book when nothing sexual is going on; Ana's banter with Christian is entertaining and I really like reading about her friends. I keep hoping that Kate will find out what is going on in Ana's relationship with Christian.

Pretty much exactly as I was expecting, I was loving the book until it got to the sex scenes and my interest began to wane. I am more interested in Ana's feelings about her BDSM relationship than I am about reading the gory details.

I really had no interest in this but decided to give it a try based off its huge popularity. I've only read the first two chapters, but thus far I'm really enjoying James' writing style. Of course, my opinion might change once the story gets to the BDSM stage LOL. Right now Ana is only just now realizing how attracted she is to Christian.

Even though I like the idea of a David/Zafirah relationship, I'm getting a little tired of David's whining jealousy. You're in the middle of a war zone, but you're whining about the fact that your brother may have the hots for the girl you like? Bitch, shut up!

Battle has begun again, but thankfully it's not as dull as in the beginning because I know more about the characters as well as the politics of the world. Knowing all this makes it much easier to care about the outcome than at the beginning when a bunch of people I didn't know were being shot at and tortured. I really like this idea and just wish the next book in the series were a continuation of this story.

Things picked up considerably once David was out of danger. Once the "action" stopped we were able to get inside David's head. I really like Zafirah thus far and am kind of shipping for her and David to get together. I just wish I were half as familiar with Egyptian mythology as I am Greek myth because I know next to nothing about Ra, Set, Osiris, Geb, etc.
