I'm not sure what to make thus far. Is Segars genuine in his defending of Andersonville, or is this all just him trying to whitewash the atrocious conditions of the prison? I know the victors write history and aren't necessarily truthful, but does Segars know the people he's quoting in the book aren't also lying to try and make themselves sound less like villains?

I'm not going to lie, this is interesting, but I can't help but wonder how much of this is based on facts and isn't just an attempt to justify the South for being on the wrong side of history. This really paints the Northern government in a bad light.

The first chapter was extremely dull, but some of the information revealed in the last few chapters has been interesting. This book makes Lincoln out to be a complete asshole, or at least a ruthless tactician.
