Even though there's not a whole lot different between the book and the first season of True Blood, I'm enjoying "Dead Until Dark." The book is actually reminding me of a few things I had forgotten about from the show (such as the guy with infected blood who was trying to poison vampires).

So far, so good. The first scene is pretty much just refreshing my memory about what went on in Season 1 of True Blood. I'm looking forward to getting further along when the novels and television series begin to differ from each other.

Things are getting REALLY good now. The last several chapters have read like an action movie, which isn't easy to accomplish in a novel. It sounds like it would make a great movie, but unfortunately the movie isn't on Netflix.

I'm enjoying it, but I'm starting to wish they'd hurry up and explain what the hell the killer is. I also hope that Coffey dies a violent death; what a jerk.

Pretty interesting. Are museum politics really as complicated as they're portrayed here?

Pretty interesting thus far. Looks like I may have come across an interesting crime series.

The most interesting moments are when Rick is going on field trips with his girlfriend. They're not particularly memorable moments, but they're okay. Unfortunately the rest of the time the book is just boring.

This is a really dull book. It's not the worst book I've read in the past year, but I'm really disappointed in it. Based off this as well as "The Confession", it seems as though Grisham is incapable of giving his characters any real personality. There's not a single character in either book who can be described as "more interesting than bland."

The story is pretty boring, but the way Grisham describes Italy has me wishing I could visit the country. For some reason I also really liked the way Grisham wrote the opera scene and find Gabriella (the opera singer) to be the most interesting person introduced in the book.

I'm already almost 1/5 the way through the book and thus far not a whole lot has happened. I like the way Grisham describes Parma, but his protagonist isn't very interesting. He's a bit of a prick, though I'm sure that'll change as he eventually grows to love being in Italy.

I can't help but wonder if Nick is just a really good manipulator, or if the combined IQs of everyone in their congregation was still in the single digits. If this were a novel, I'd say "no one is believable", but these people are actually real. It's just hard to fathom how ridiculous they all are.

A saw a true crime program about this event and then about a week later saw this book at Jimmy's Wal-Mart in West Virginia. It's unfathomable that none of the people realized just how creepy the people running their church were. I can understand them not suspecting the youth minister was going to commit murder, but there was just so much wrong going on that few people questioned it and those that did still did nada.

Joshua has just collected his 13 disciples. I like the way Moore introduces each of the disciples (some are normal guys, Nathaniel is an idiot, and Thomas is a little crazy). I find myself wishing Moore had also written about David becoming King as well.
