Disappointed thus far for a variety of reasons. 1) It's not really a novel, it's more just a "retelling" of legends and leaves out a lot of things (such as characters' thoughts, etc.). 2) There's a huge boring battle with a bunch of characters I can't remember. 3) I always thought Arthur was a wise man but he's actually kind of a douche who seems to want to fight all the time.

Thus far I don't like it. None of the characters have much of a personality outside their specific trait (slightly homophobic protagonist who's not really a bad guy, angry gay guy who thinks the world is out to get him, homophobic police officer). Thankfully this isn't a super long book because it's yet to grab my attention.

I enjoyed Rice's first two books but never finished book three. I found this in the bargain bin at B&N in Gatlinburg last year and decided to pick it up since it was only $3.97. I'm still only in the prologue. Don't care too much for it though that's because I don't care for battlefield type stories. I'm sure it'll pick up once the murder mystery begins.

Finally! Kate, my favorite character from Book 1, has finally reappeared. She's such a stronger woman than wimpy whiny Anastasia that I really wish the book had focused on her and Elliot. Don't get me wrong, Ana and Christian have enjoyable moments, but they can be ridiculously exasperating!

The two main characters are so damn annoying. Christian keeps telling Ana to email him from her Blackberry and not her work email addy, but he does it by emailing her work address. Then when a devious character gets hold of said emails, he gets pissed at her when he very easily could have refused to ever email her at this address. Can James please kill Ana and Christian so the book can be about Elliot and Kate?

While some of the plot is entertaining, the idiotic characters make it so hard to care about what's going on. Christian stops a psychopath from shooting Ana, and her reaction is "ermahgerd, does he luz her? So insecure, woe is me, I could have been shot but instead I'm jealous. Like, totally, as if!" I wish the psycho had shot Ana because she's too annoying to live

Not sure why I bothered buying this. While I kind of enjoyed Fifty Shades of Grey, I frequently found it INCREDIBLY annoying as well. Anastasia is such a flake that I just can't stand her, and Christian acts like a petulant child. I wish the book would just focus on Kate since she seems like a smart woman, but sadly she's yet to even appear at the point I'm at in Fifty Shades Darker.

Was NOT expecting the death that just occurred. Other than, such a good read even though Asher is getting on my nerves with his whine baby attitude. Dude, grow a set and shut up! Morg is such a disgusting villain I can't wait for Asher to kick his ass. I'm expecting Gar to have to sacrifice himself since Asher was too stupid to listen to Gar when he had a plan earlier on.

Damn, this book is good. I usually find myself drawn to villains, but Morg is such a sadistic SOB with not one redeeming quality that I can't wait for Asher and Gar to take him down. It's just a shame that this is the last book in the series. A couple of other books take place in the same world but at different time periods. I hate that this isn't a big Wheel of Time like series taking place over 90 books.

Things are getting really good now. I feel like I'm in for a soap opera moment, though. The lawful character is about to find out the main character is committing a sin worthy of death, but I expect by the time they arrive to get their "proof" all evidence of the sin will be removed. Still, who knew Willer would amount to such an important character?

Dathne's arrogance is starting to piss me off. I'm furious at her for the way she treated Matt. She slaps him, he stops her from slapping him a second time, and then Asher has the nerve to fire him for "laying hands on his woman." Matt is right; the way Dathne is postponing telling Asher the truth is going to lead to some very big hurt feelings.

While the politicking is interesting, when is the "prophecy" that Dathne foresaw going to happen? While there's still over 500 pages left, it feels like there's not enough time left before this "series" ends.

I was really surprised by the results of the carriage accident that concluded book one. I thought for sure that the outcome for at least one character would be different. The political intrigue is interesting but I want villain interaction.

Finished the novel, just at the last few pages with a few additional pages. This was such a fascinating read.
