Even though I disagree with so much of what he says about guns, I agreed with him on the chapter about torture. And I thought I couldn't despise W any more than I already did.

The first death that occurred was expected but the second death was so sudden and unexpected. Disappointing, too, because I really liked that character. The religious tone the last several chapters has taken has been a bit annoying but I'm still loving this book.

Napolitano was getting on my nerves for a few pages until he got to the chapter on "guilty until proven innocence." What he told about Leonel Torres Herrera was absolutely heartbreaking and, if true, lowers my opinion of our former president even lower than it was before.

I'm loving this book. I'm glad the last hour of reading didn't include George and Eliza. They're okay but I prefer Tom at the St. Clairs. Unfortunately it looks like something dreadful is about to happen to one of my favorite characters.

Damn this is a good read. The characters are very compelling. Even though there's a lot of standing around talking, I really like the way none of Stowe's characters are one-note. Some of the worst people have at least a little compassion in them and even those who aren't complete tyrants are kind of racist.

The last few chapters have been more enjoyable. I enjoyed the chapter on free speech and even understood where he was coming from about something I disagreed with. Even though I hate guns and disagree with some of his reasoning, I'm also enjoying the gun chapter.

At first I was disappointed when the scene shifted from Tom's new owners to George and Eliza but that changed when they once again had to go on the run.

Even though I knew I wouldn't agree with a lot of what he said, I'm finding this book to be pretty boring. There are a couple of interesting facts but there's a lot of dull stuff as well. I've liked him when I saw him on the Daily Show but I'm not impressed with "LTGTY."

I'm enjoying it but I was Stowe had stuck with a main group of characters instead of constantly introducing new ones. It's already hard enough to keep track of who is who.

507 of 531. Damn, this is a good book. I just finished it and the only thing left are the acknowledgements as well as a preview for the newest Mickey Haller book, The Fifth Witness. I can't wait to pick up more books in the series as well as to read some of Connelly's other works and I've definitely got to rent the movie.

Really good book thus far. Stowe doesn't seem to ramble on and on like Dickens, Austen, Bronte, etc. The plot is always moving along with no unnecessary lulls and I love reading the "voices" of slave owners and abolitionists from someone who was actually alive during that time period.

Damn this is a good book. Grisham could really learn a thing or two about Connelly. When I read Grisham, I didn't really care about the characters, but that is not the case with Grisham. Connelly does a great job of making you care what's happening and wanting to see the guilty punished for their deeds. Bravo, Mr. Connelly.

I like it. It looks like it's going to be longer than any of the other free classics I've read on my Kindle. Probably because she was an American but there's not a lot of confusing dialogue in this one.

The last two legal novels I read were decent but not very engaging; the characters were bland and pretty one-dimensional. In 68 pages Connelly has already done a much better job. Haller is believable as a somewhat jaded defense attorney and I love the way many of his clients aren't "saints" who are being unfairly prosecuted. Sure we're lead to believe his main client is innocent, but many aren't. Very believable

I finished the actual story already and am just reading the extra information at the end. I didn't really like it at all. Some of the ideas were interesting but the execution just wasn't there. I won't bother with any other graphic novels but I may try the novels that proceeded it.

I had a hard time following it at first but I understand everything now. I'm curious why it's name after Fanshawe when he's just a minor character.

Not much left now. Dickens has died which likely means there's not much left except to reveal whether Drood is real or not. Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if the book ends without ever revealing the truth.

I'm not enjoying it quite as much as Scarlet Letter but it's not too bad. Was kind of slow until we learned about a plot to trap Ellen into marriage.
