Rainbow has such a way with description and her scenes are so relatable! God, I am so envious of the fluidity of her writing. Even the mundane scenes are interesting.

This book does a great job discussing and dissecting the different type of racism that each minority experiences and how model minority racism is still racism. How different minorities are still racist against each other. I love the themes of this book!

first impression: this reads weird. The sentences are structured weird. I find myself having to read and reread them, and I'm not sure if it's because I just can't focus, or if the language is simply hard to follow.

Thank you for not having Takumi save her from the near sexual assault scene. I was about to roll my eyes at the cliche, but instead a random Black guy bystander looks out for her. I appreciate the hell out of that.

Not usually my genre, but this is pretty entertaining. It doesn't however make me want to return, after I've put it down. It's entertaining, but not... comforting, I guess.

Stephens uses a ton of adverbs. A TON. She's officially made me hate the word 'glorious'

Stephens does her due diligence in describing setting--every detail of the bar and the house is provided for the reader--which can be good, but if it doesn't serve a purpose, it's just a word count eater. Especially since she neglects to give Kiera's family any dialogue. She kind of glazes over those phone conversations, noting that Kiera misses her family, but I don't FEEL anything for those people

This guy obviously has feelings for Brittany. We're over halfway through the book and he's going back to the idea that this is about a bet?? This book is so bad.

This is some of the WORST writing I've had to endure in a long time. It's just about as bad as kissing booth, but that was written by a freaking 17 year old. This was written by a grown ass woman. She should be ashamed of herself. I'm mad that this was a best seller.

at this point, the romance feels a little forced. Like, as much as I knew it was going to happen, and as much as it's supposed to happen, that's just it. It's supposed to happen. There's no... chemistry

most common element of teen romance: girl gets groped/assaulted by some guy and is saved by the love interest (this hasn't happened yet in this story, but I bet everything I own that it will). Let's find out...
