I really like how short and sweet she keeps the character chapters, at least here in the beginning. I'm so hesitant when it comes to perspective shifts, but yes. This is how you do it.

I'm having a hard time focusing. The story is not overly structured, or constricted by plot (at all), and because of this, it's real easy to get distracted away from reading and to lose heart. Also, I don't think I ever quite figured out how and why she's started to hang with this new group of friends, if she hasn't talked to them since elementary school (I think). Maybe it will become apparent in the end.

This time around, I'm able to spot how outdated this book is. The ideas behind whore and slut calling are a little behind. Wesley tries to save it when he says that people use the word slut to cut other people down, and to feel better about their own mistakes, but it needs to go further. Maybe they aren't mistakes? Sexual freedom and all that. Also, her dad's blow up comes out of nowhere and it's kinda brushed over.
