This book is excruciating to get through. Not because it isn’t interesting, but deeply depressing and disturbing. I cannot understand how these are tales of “people’s journey towards happiness”.

An easy, engrossing read for when you're poorly

38 pages was already a LOT

Addie LaRue is invisible, can't leave a mark, forgotten as soon as she is out of sight. But apparently the immortality she has in exchange? Not. Enough.

So she inspires centuries of famous artists, so much so that she is a subject of a doctoral thesis at the end of all this inspiration.

I don't know about anyone else, but that smacks of hubris to me.

Enough with the ever-loving 7 freckles. Also with the incessant whining. I am quickly losing all interest in Addie.

Why. Why does prostitution or rape or assault HAVE to come into female MC storylines? Is there no other way to showcase coming of age, grit, strength, and power? Does it HAVE to be sexual ALWAYS?! ARGH.

Elgie has proven to be a disappointment.

Characters undergoing mental turmoil is one thing; arguably a desirable thing for development. However these two idiots with the "I hate and love the exact same thing." without any nuance is just supremely childish.

Oraya's internal dialogue in this book seems to exclusively consist of a list of things she HATES about Raihn. And his is just: "There she is."

2 chapters in, and it is already so tedious. I am totally going to judge-read this book.

there is slow buildup. and there is fredrik backman buildup. planets complete revolutions faster.

This book is rapidly becoming excruciatingly slow. And yes, I am aware of the contradiction.

I used get annoyed with fantasy authors that wrote reams about the magic systems in their books. Now, I get why they do it.

Maia has 4 (?) magical items, and she uses them *instinctively* and each time they do something entirely different. It is confusing and infuriating.

If I hadn't bought both both books at the same time, I would have tossed this duology after suffering through the first book.

After a slew of unlikeable characters in books, it is so nice to really develop soft corners for most of hr min characters in this one. Obviously, Marcellus is my favourite.

I'm sorry, but the irony of Harriet complaining that her classmates read her private notebook, while sneaking into people's homes and eavesdropping is too much to gloss over without comment.
