finally figured put why these excerpts annoy me. they are like graphics or quotes in an article which i add to keep reader interest engaged.

but this isn't an article. the readers are already engaged. why interrupt a narrative with these pointless excerpts every chapter? i would hve understood one or two. but every chapter is like nils on a chalkboard

it took this long for the book to get interesting. the execution could have been orders of magnitude better. the material had so much potential.

Dude is hilarious and I already knew that going in. Now I'm reading his soliloquy about shitting and laughing my guts out.

So anyone who remembers the broad outlines of the Mahabharata epic knows the twist of this story from the first page.

The reincarnated Pandavas have names that start with the same letters as their Mahabharata counterparts.

Slightly annoyed that the cover is not the same. But I love this series. So all is forgiven.

Also, I got this book today. And I'm deliberately stopping myself from reading any more. After the grimness of some of the other stuff I've read and watched, this wholesome fantasy story is the mood lifter I needed so desperately.

The plot itself is slow; all this time has been spent in revealing the characters. However it is a riveting, if mediocre, read. And one I really want to finish just because of the suspense.

These Kindle based updates are painful.

i get why people feel this book comes across as callous but i have a very similar coping mechanism, so i see the caring behind the flippancy

reading this entire book in Stephen Fry's voice. so so fun, especially his signature witticisms. the start of psyche and eros story made me giggle out loud with the pig. hilarious.

tempting to race through but best to let the messages sink in first. this book has come to me at a time i desperately needed it.

Not sure if I particularly enjoy the brand names popping up constantly but I do acknowledge they may bolster credibility. I would have enjoyed the gold of the messages more, without what I perceive as gratuitous gilt.

This book is a whopper, and yet completely engrossing. Have a hard time putting it away when I have to work.

Quite the behemoth of a novel, but fast-paced and interesting, just like the previous instalments.

If I have one gripe against JKR's world-building and environments, is that all her protagonists are miserable sods. The slightest thing can set off their sour and dour moods. Strike doesn't like gifting; Robin is sad because her brother had a baby; etc.

Yes these can be triggers. But everything is a trigger for JKR

Somehow the update from Kindle failed. Can't be bothered to retype an entire update, especially after labouring through that painful onscreen keyboard in the first place.

Finally been able to identify what element of these books set my teeth on edge. It is the ponderous, Indian uncle attempt at humour. Absolutely no one except the uncle in quearipn finds those jokes and "witty" asides funny. These books are fulll of that stuff.

Not something I can explain more. It is a case of if you know, you know.
