I have mixed feelings on the voice of Birdie and this book ngl feels a little cringe to me. While my hopes are lowered by the 9% mark, we will see how this book continues to unfold

Another YA contemporary author with a lot of books that seem to be a mix of fluff and some serious moments. We'll see if this ends up on the Kasie West end of YA contemp for me, or if it falls flat

Look I don't care if I get spoiled for this or if it is not resolved, but I just need to know if the dog lives because this is a cruel and unusual way to start off a book. I mean I am loving the first 20 pages of this book so far, but if it is brought up again and anyone has read this book, I need to know if the dog lives

Okay, I may have overreacted a little in my last status update about Kiersten, but only because I was emotional about her character and how she has acted by that point since she was very much portrayed as a villain. I am curious to see how she changes as we go into the Spring part.

But I still stand by her being a character I don't like. Though I will give final thoughts when I finish the book

Honestly, and I can't be the only one who feels this way, I absolutely cannot stand Kerstin (apologies if her name was misspelled, this is an audiobook listen). I have been clinging to a hope that there may be at least one shining moment or positive trait to her, but nothing so far.
For real, she is like the worst fictional character I've read in a long time

I had plans to finish this book today...but then Taylor Swift's hints that something was coming and her dropping a new album wrecked my plans.
But aside from that, I am really enjoying reading this book. The writing and worldbuilding is gorgeous

Slowly trudging through this audiobook...I'm enjoying it but it is a longer audiobook that has taken be a while to get through

Okay, I know we are in The Darkest Moment territory here with the book, but it feels a bit forced that Santiago immediately turns his back on Moon...even though they kinda talked about this earlier in the book and I feel like it wouldn't be a problem?
Also, and I know she isn't supposed to be the most likable, but damn Star is like the second-worst character in the book after the mom

Thanks spotify for telling me I ran out of audiobook time for the month and I can't continue this audiobook now ugh.
I will be putting this book on hold until I am able to listen to more of it. But I am really enjoying this and the Japanese lore/mythology that is interwoven in this
