This is quite remarkable. Not what I was expecting at all.

Got through to the end of the first story in this 5-story fixup/collection.

It ended exactly how I thought it would, but that was the awesome way. On to story 2.

Knife in arm.

What the fuck is this coda at the end? Seriously, what the fuck? Do I have to get to the end of it to make any more sense of the story that's already over, or is it just superfluous? It's utterly boring and annoying at the same time. And the narrator has exactly one dimension of emotional range, and this is at the teeth-grind-inducing end.

Narration has improved a bit, attribution in dialogue still annoying, but the story is really good fun. I'm sticking with it.

I need to look up the narrator of this, because he is (almost) the worst I've ever listened to. Luke said.

Getting near the end, and it's really picking up. Will it turn into a zombie story? Probably not, but it felt like it for a short while.

This is really, really good fun. I still have no idea exactly what kind of story it is.

Recommended to me by Jonathan Davis, the narrator, as one of his favourite recent recordings. It's really good so far!

Is he just going to kill people until nobody is left? This is quite disappointing. It was going so well until now.

Holy shit, this book is taking a long time! Not only is it MASSIVE but I've got so many other projects eating into my writing time, and I've read three other (non-fiction) books in the same time.

Oh wait, I've still not reached the second quarter of the book yet. Daaaaaamn.

This is really good! The novel is set in alternative Johannesburg, and I'll be visiting the city tomorrow.

I have a feeling the ending I guessed I might get back at the 40% point is really ending Reynolds wants me to read. I prefer to be surprised. Maybe I will be.

Unless the story properly picks up, I think this might be considered "low level Reynoldian" material.

Tanzania to the moon and back. I want to do that trip.
