Seriously, why would anyone ever point a gun at Peter and not shoot him? It makes no sense.

God. Every time they don't kill someone who needs to be offed I lose my mind a little. Like, oh my god, let them kill the bad guys and come up with new bad guys. I'm tired of this whole gun-to-the-head-then-I-hesitate-and-they-get-away thing. Jesus Christ. I need to go back to Game of Thrones. George RR Martin doesn't do this shit.

This is one of those books where I can't stop imagining what I would change, like I'm reading my own rough draft. I'm not terribly annoyed by the things I would change, it just feels a little unpolished.

This is why I could never be a writer. With my own writing sometimes things are a bit of a mess and for whatever reason I can't work out how to fix it no matter how many times I read it.

See! This is an extra chapter written from four's point of view. This is what this book needs: multiple stories with extra information for the reader to gather. I'm kind of annoyed I'm getting this like 200 pages after the fact.

I wish there was more build up to the action. Like, I realize there was nearly 450 pages of build up, but it focused more on the main character's mental state than what was happening in the world.

My perception of Four doesn't match up with Tris's perception of Four and that's really confusing.

Like she thinks he's kind of a unfeeling jerk or something and I think he's the nicest guy ever...I'm like, is that supposed to be because she's from a selfless faction and everyone's a jerk by comparison...or do I just date assholes? WHICH IS IT?

Did this just take a BDSMy turn? What the fuck?

Jesus, this really is a metaphor for being a teenager. Omg, she's becoming a popular kid! She's moving away from the control of her parents and becoming her own person! It makes so much more sense if you see it that way, rather than try to figure out why on earth the world would ever work the way it does in this book.

She's kind of like Oliva Dunham, but less likable.

I want to go home and finish reading this book and I don't know why. I think I'm curious to learn about this world she's created even though I have really low expectations and I fully expect to be disappointed. We'll see. It might get a lot better.

I'm mad the protagonist chose Dauntless because I totally would have choose Amity and I want to know what's going on in that camp. Like dude, you joined a military of punks. That's only half awesome. Also, what's up with the nerds being jerks?

I don't think I like the people who claim this is better than the hunger games. Listen, Suzanne Collins might be terrible at things like sentences and words, but she's a genius. This doesn't feel like genius so far. This feels like an idea for a story I might have had when I was 14. It also feels like a BLATANT rip off some of the concepts in 1984. Why don't you join the ministry of grow a pair? Yeah. Now what? Punk.

This is frustrating because I'm reading this in Kindle format on my laptop and I have no real way to figure out what page I'm on. Stupid kindle.

Yeah, so this story seems to make much more sense if you take it as a metaphor. There's nothing realistic about the way this society is set up, and they don't offer you any explanation for it, BUT this is kind of what being a teenager in America FEELS like.

I looked up a family tree because I couldn't remember who was who and I found a spoiler from book three. Damn it man.

I thought when I read this I was going to be sad about the characters I know are going to die, but as it turns out I just feel bad for Sansa.

So V for Vendetta is so obviously for boys (she acted like it was Fast and the Furious or something), but reading a book based on a first person shoot 'em up is totally in her wheel house even though she doesnt seem to be a gamer? This is going to bother me the whole book.

I'm sorry, she can't like V for Vendetta because it's a "boy movie"? What is that? That really irritates me. It's like he's trying to throw things in there to remind you that this character is supposed to be a girl or something.

Man, why are the protagonists in books so bland and easily shocked? And why are they usually boys with interesting lady counterparts? What is that?

One detail I noticed that I somehow missed when I was a kid is that Leslie's parents are well off and choosing to live off the land because they're hippies and not poor rednecks. I'm kinda bummed about this development. Redlyfe!
