Stramgely enough I watched Ridley Scott's Prometheus this evening and it tied into my re-read of Frankenstein just nicely.

Genuinely didn't think that a story about a bunch of anthropomorphic animals doing relatively little would be so charming and entertaining. And yet, it works.

It's starting to click that Abercrombie is playing a long game here. This may yet turn out to be very very good.

This Friday I am finally meeting up with comrade Nermin, and together we are going to tear up London Town. The Shard will tremble, the Gherkin will crumble, Canada Tower will tower no more - will shall shake these oppressive capitalist institutions to their very foundations. Imo what is actually rebellious is the act of reading - and evenmoreso the act of understanding. The more people read Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, Virginia Woolf etc and the more we share the love and appreciation of doing so we become better people and create better communities. GR/Amazon for all of their faults never sought to take away our right to do that and imo keeping this site going should be the priority.

I find myself more concerned by this particularl clause in the review guidelines.

Can I get away with reading manga all day at work today? I think so - but which one?

Sorry I haven't been around much recently Goodreads. I've discovered in the last couple of months that it's a real struggle to focus on reading AND writing at the same time, and I've been spending 100% of my free time doing the latter, with no mental energy left for the former.

I've just finished a short story that I'm determined to publish though, and I'm particularly happy with it. Definitely time for a break
