hak could so easily fall into the dark-haired brooding asshole love interest trope but he defies that stereotype at every turn. he loves yona SO FUCKING MUCH and is willing to give up every shred of peace and love he’s ever known so she can live a quiet peaceful life. he openly cares for her even if he teases her in the same breath. and the teasing is NEVER mean-spirited, she always dishes it right back

i am so in love with mun-deok and the wind tribe in general, and it's so cute that yona is also immediately endeared and feels like she's uncovered a new piece of hak through meeting his community

i've seen some people criticize the pacing in these first few chapters, but i think these flashbacks are so important and perfectly placed. yona and hak are reminiscing in light of su-won's betrayal, so we see their memories and how they relate to their current mindsets as they're reflecting on it all themselves. i'm SO invested in all 3 of them immediately, and the horror of it all falling apart is palpable

i've currently been having a fantastic time with this anime but was horrified to find out that it only has one season despite the manga having upwards of 30 volumes so!!!!! here we are!!!!

i am so in love with the open and honest communication going on here!!!!! this relationship just exudes safety and warmth, and the pacing is just right too. itsuomi is in no rush whatsoever but the progression is still evident and so natural

from yuki openly ogling itsuomi’s hands at every opportunity to the tasteful collarbone tease to the boyfriend hoodie, the female gaze is STRONG in these panels oh my god

if i’m ever not giggling and kicking my feet at this manga then that’s how you know something is very wrong with me and you might need to call someone

they’re such a comfort ship WOW i totally get what itsuomi means when he says he feels relaxed with yuki. and i feel like him saying that really shows that he has genuine feelings for yuki, and that he’s not just interested in her as a means to an end to learn another language. he feels settled with her, which seems like quite a feat for someone who travels as much as he does

so far i am FIRMLY team itsuomi but i’m interested to see growth from oushi even if he never ends up being a viable partner for yuki. but this whole overbearing thing is so gross and childish. if you’re gonna worry about her that much, at least be honest about how you feel

rin and yuki definitely have one of the best female friendships i’ve ever seen in the manga i’ve read so far. they make my heart so full, they are ADORABLE

okay. this is good but i think i'm just simply not in the right mood for it rn. i have not wanted to pick it back up since i put it down last. i fear no enemies to lovers (are briony and toven even really enemies let's be real) will ever touch damen and laurent, i've been spoiled forever. but maybe i'll pick this back up when the second book comes out!!!
