It's so obvious this is going to have a sad ending. No story with an elephant that befriends kids is fated for a happy ending.

Wow, so apparently this guy is Ronnie James Dio's son.

This is a really intriguing series carried by a really gifted writer. It's not always easy for me to explain, but basically, if you like far-reaching cosmic epics about multiversal threats, alternate realities, eldritch forces, etc. This series would probably grab you right away.

This is one of those bizarre medieval fantasy books that defy description and draw limited comparisons. The closest books I can compare this kind of fantasy to would be either Bleakwarrior or City of a Thousand Faces.
