I have to admit to have skipped pages to the end which was the only interesting thing of this story that kept me reading. Perhaps I'll re-read this or was just bored an lost interest I don't know.
When I found this book on the ad, I immediately purchased it under a good deal. The Blob is one of my favorite sci-fi B-movies, and I got excited the author wrote a sequel for it. So what did I think after I read it? Ewwww..... What I like is how the beginning continued where the movie left off. The Blob was placed in the Arctic because coldness is its weakness. When global warming melts the glaciers, the Blob gets free and terrorizes the people. It is indestructible and it keeps spreading as it eats. There are nail biting perils and some good action sequences. Now here is my ewwww! What I didn't like is the plot. Each chapter is a short story, following witnesses who encounter the Blob. They work chronologically, but I never cared about the characters. I hoped the plot would be a full short story, following a new cast of characters who figure out how to defeat the Blob. Instead, they are random people with different fates. And the ending is disappointing. It also seems like the story has a global warming message withe the Blob representing the disater. Overall, I was glad I brought this book under 99 cents. If you are a big fan of the Blob movies, you might enjoy this novella. Otherwise, you will not get much from this short monster tale.
The monster in this book is completely different than the one in the original movie. This one swims, flies, eats cars and buildings, generates heat, and feeds on heat. Bleh…
