The one thing Nick asks (don't mention my name), but of course, Carly has to do it. Name dropping. Sheesh. As soon as she said, "I'll tell Nick you said hello..." I was like, "But WHY?!?!"

Linus is getting a little bit better. Thank goodness! I still have my reservations. The kids are the best, though.

Was able to access the audiobook through Libby. I really liked the other SSJ books I've read. This one is pretty enjoyable so far.

So far, I'm loving the orphanage and its charges. Linus is kind of driving me bonkers, though. It's one of those situations where when one thing bugs me, EVERYTHING bugs me. I'm hoping he grows to be both more and less Linus.

I think I'm broken lol. I'm fixating on how unprofessional Linus appears to be. It seems that he freaks out way too easily, especially considering his line of work. The only reason I'm even mentioning it is because I'm using these updates as notes for our meeting! I'm multitasking that way 😎

Book #3 of our family group read: December pick. It's not something I'd normally read (not a huge fan of settings with children--schools, orphanages, etc). Not that I won't read them, because I have, it's just not normally a first choice. Which is why this family read is so great. We all have very different tastes so the picks are pretty varied.

Finished with Part 4: Alana's story. It was hard to listen to and take in. This happened to a real person. This was her real story. People like Art actually exist in the real world, and children like Alana have to live with them. I can't believe no one stepped in sooner. She was failed on so many fronts.

Finished Danny's story. I swear, I'm at work, sitting in my office, and choking back tears. Everything that was lost to him. It hurts me just to think about it.

Listening to Danny's story now. I thought I was going to cry when he said he could no longer communicate with his parents. He was forced to become anglicized and forgot the Cree language during the indigenous people eradication.

Finished part 2: Peter's Story. I seriously wanted to reach through and give him a hug.

Just finished Part 1: Laura's story. I am honestly amazed that she was able to eventually thrive. She really had this incredible perseverance. Reminded me of my grandmother in a way. I have a feeling I'm going to be awed by each of these patients.

Not really to do with the book per se, but are boiled crawfish really a "different" thing to eat? Would someone from TN really have no experience with them? Maybe it's because I'm from the part of the south where we eat them all the time, but it's really strange to me that that would be the case.

After listening to Guards! Guards!, I decided to listen to another audiobook. I've enjoyed the non-fics I've listened to so this seems like this will be right up my alley. Yay for KU audio 😄

When your kindle says you're on page 345 but you're only 30% in 😶 I do like it so far, but man it's long and starting to feel that way.

More fated mates. I wish this wasn't such a trope in alien/sci-fi romance.

I swore I would read it this month for a group read. I was struggling but listening to the audio has helped tremendously.
