So far this is shaping up to be a good second book. Yes, Shae and Fallon are together, but that's not all this book is about, unlike others I've read or started to read recently (looking at you, Breath of Fire).

"You are a stubborn, stubborn woman."

Shae nodded, acknowledging this claim. She was. There was no getting around it. She was also hardheaded and horrible with people. She fully acknowledged her failings.

This is one reason I'm loving this author. Imperfect characters are the best characters.

Nothing good ever came of someone with unclear motives stalking her.

So far Kira is definitely my kind of girl.

Talk some more about loyalty and trust, Griffin. Seriously?

Peyne is certainly living up to his name.

First audio book I've attempted in a while. Available via KU with narration. Fingers crossed it's a good one :)

It's almost as if Fortuna acts intentionally naive. Bugs me a little bit.

So far this has been pretty fun, though I am not one who loves unnecessary secret keeping drama. We'll see how things play out...

I'm really liking the banter between Despina and Shahrzad.

This book feels like it is taking me forever to read...and I'm not in love with the romance. It seems like too much, too quick. I may need to take a break then come back.

Retellings of Beauty and the Beast are probably my favorite of the fairy tale retells (though I love most retells in general). What are some of your favorites? I'm looking for some inspiration <3

Brannen makes it really hard to be sympathetic towards him. I'm all for dark and growly, but he's seriously an ass...

So far it is a little bit romance, love story forward but still very good!

Next up in my KU clean out. So far, pretty typical fare. But I have to admit, I dig alien heroes, especially the broken ones who don't know their own worth. Is that awful?

More POVs are added yet again. I'm not sure how I feel about this deviation. I guess with so much going on it's one way to get more of the story across. But so far there's very little of Vale and Devi and snatches of story from random POVs. We'll see how it works out in the end...

So far this is better than the first. The dialogue feels less juvenile and it reads more like an adventure fantasy story.
