Okay so we’ve entered the suspension of disbelief phase 🫣

I’m trying to just go with it

If you’re following me elsewhere, you know this week has been brutal. And yet 🥹

I started this in desperate need for something romantic and 🤞🏼hysterical🤞🏼

THIS BOOK IS SO FUNNY 🤍 I’ve already laughed out loud countless times

The characters are two-dimensional, the quest is lacklustre, and I don’t buy the romance for a second when there’s been no work put into showing me why these characters would be interested in one another ☹️ I find it truly bizarre how little I’m feeling considering the stakes are very high.

It’s a example of an amazing concept that falls to pieces in the execution

It’s weird when I don’t have much to say about whatever it is I’m reading 🤔

Getting a little repetitive and thus, a little tedious

This has a massive cast and the audiobook is difficult to follow. Pausing for now until I can get the physical book and tab handy references

Damn, folks. Is Yarros known for writing straight-up addictive fiction?

Phenomenal use of dual POV along with past & present timeline unfolding at the same time.

We get just enough morsels to keep the tension and curiosity cranked

A well-paced book is 👩🏽‍🍳💋

I haven’t seen anyone else say it yet but this does give crescent city vibes 👀

Urban fantasy with two characters who are strangers to one another but thrust into working together to solve a murder mystery

What a neat magic system 🤩

The beginning of Threads that Bind has been a delight. Sparkling and fascinating.

The narrator’s performance is unfortunate. I don’t like her “man” voice and any time she’s required to to an accent, it’s painful.

Additionally, there’s no tension. And trust me, it’s possible to still have tension even when dealing with insta-love. As a result, I’m feeling nothing during the spice scenes.

Maybe I should just DNF ☹️

So far: funny and fluffy. Exactly what the doctor ordered 🥹♥️

I’m a little nervous for this one. Reviews aren’t stellar, and so far it’s giving The Deep by Rivers Solomon but possibly make it the knockoff version? 😬 I dunno

Also, TikTok has me feeling 8 levels of anxious because of the BATSHIT comments I’m seeing from people who 1) don’t understand how consent works 2) think it’s okay for Kierra to claim to be the victim and I kind of just need an escape 😭

If I thought book 1 in this series had plot holes, it’s got nothing on book 2 lmao 🙃

I’m reading purely for entertainment, so it’s isn’t tooooo upsetting. It is dumb, though

Not as good as book one. Even still, I am entertained

Since book one was the perfect palate cleanser, I’m going with the momentum and listening to book two

It’s an easy read with limited worldbuilding and funny dialogue. I’m into it 👍

I’ve been warned to go into this with zero expectations lol

Proof that just because you put characters through hell, if you can’t write in a way that endears their plight to the reader, all the angst in the world feels hallow

Everyone loves this but we’ve already had “fat” be lobbed as an insult and “sitting Indian style”

This is the new audiobook format, too… so there would have been a chance to make edits

Slightly disappointed by the ending because it was all plot and no smut 😂

Note so I don’t forget: the female narrator is the same one who voices Feyre in the graphic audio version. The male narrator I’m not familiar with but he also does a great job

ALSO. I went into this knowing it was fantasy first, romance second. Nevertheless I’m still allowed to critique the romance. It’s basically insta-love on the part of Samuel. These characters do not know one another. So whyyyy do they care? It just makes no sense
