Picking this back up! The author made some really fascinating decisions regarding the various POVs.

This is definitely a book you need to pay close attention to. Shifting POVs and a massive cast is only part of it. Each POV effortlessly shifts between past a present, weaving a tapestry of who the characters were juxtaposed with who they are now. Why the changes? We don’t know yet 👀

The way this book handles the breaking of generational trauma 😭🫶🏼

There’s a scene that happens in Losers: Part Two that, for whatever reason, completely surprised me.

Is it too harsh to say these characters are one-dimensional?

Isn’t this supposed to be adult? Why is it reading like middle grade?

Before I forget to write it down: the narrators are fantastic. I’ve listened to them before and I’ll certainly do it again

The highest compliment I can give a narrator is the desire to go through *their* backlist

I’m not feeling this. It’s possible that’s because I just finished one of the worst books I read this year. Or maybe the narrator’s performance is making the text annoying. Perhaps the text just *is* annoying.

Sigh.

I’m am struggling so intensely with this book — to the point that I have already taken more notes (of all the things I dislike) than I have any other novel in ages

Okay so I was *also* thinking that the writing is coming across as… how phrase this kindly…

Despite the characters being in their early 30’s, it’s written by someone not quite in touch with 30-somethings 😬

Am I being insane for cringing that they use Facebook as their main social media?

Also, the blurb & author note are reeeeeally driving home just how “hot” “provocative” and “steamy” the sex scenes are… which makes me nervous.

You have to think that the people seeing that and, as a result, picking up the book are likely seasoned spice readers. That’s a high bar and I’m concerned it won’t meet it

The author reached out to ask about doing an ad. I only ever do ads for books I’d honestly recommend, so come along as I figure that out

First first first impressions: it’s coming across as a little ‘try hard’. Some of the science references feel forced instead of how someone, even a science nerd, would think.

Every couple of months I have a night of complete insomnia where I cannot get a single *minute* of sleep.

In my delirium, I usually pick up a very random, short(er) ebook.
