Well...there had better be more to Park's hiding his sexuality than to protect a budding political career. I'm not sure I'll have any empathy for that because it makes me angry for all those openly gay Democrat or Independent career politicians who had the guts to put their private lives on display and STILL got elected. It can be done.

I heartily disliked the audio for the first one; I don't know why but I'm going to give this one a chance to change my mind about J.P. Handler's narration.

Ack! When a narrator becomes THE voice for a series, and then you hear him perform another character? So weird.

John sounds just like Jacob (from PsyCop)...but thankfully Ryan doesn't sound like Vic or that would just be too confusing and I'd have to DNF the audio.

This one isn't resonating with me right now, putting it back on the TBR 'til the mood strikes.

Just a little gripe: It seems like the cops are just...well, officers - not detectives, so I'm a little confused as to their involvement investigating the robbery cases.

I just can't get over how good this book is turning out to be...it's also sneaky smart & scathingly subversive. I hope I remember all the points I want to make in the review.

Still in the preliminary, world-building & set-up portion of the tale...but holy crap this is really well-written! Already I can tell that the FMC isn't a cookie-cutter TSTL kind of heroine; she's got gumption & guts & backbone. Not much so far on the individual Jekh aliens but their origin, treatment & suffering as a whole is entirely too familiar to how "the other" is treated by (at least) contemporary 'Muricans.

Oh man this is making me really miss watching The Guard, a great Canadian show starring the hotness that is Steve Bacic & Roger Cross. Yum.

Hmmm...the narrator is Dominic M McCartney, but it sounds a whole lot like someone I've already listened to; maybe a pseudo? I just can't remember which book it was. I mean, obviously it was an Aussie setting/MC, but other than that I'm drawing a blank.

Yet another day I can definitively say I am ashamed of how LGBTQIA people are being treated in the US given the Cake Case ruling...& I really hope that the decision doesn't provide the slippery slope for further discrimination.

OOf, this is almost harder to read (IMHO) because at least with straight-up NonCon the protagonist has no choice; to deliberately make this kind of an alliance, not knowing how it will ultimately play out, is really a lot more scary to me.

Okay, so I thought I knew who kidnapped Shayna & why, but given the second set of pictures left for Nick now I'm thinking I'm wrong, that my hunch was based on deliberate misdirection because they just seem too easy to suspect at this point...which means they're probably a red-herring, and it's this other person I was loathe to suspect instead.

I'm not sure I've mentioned it before but like Cordelia, James gets the LV details right...but more importantly they both get the feel of the city right - at least for the characters that live here. I've read other books set in town but those stories tend to focus on the casinos or the vacation/debauchery aspects of the place; it may be bright lights & fun on the Strip, but not so much everywhere else!

Sometimes I wonder why people into S&M would rather play at clubs than at home, even those who aren't into the exhibitionism & choose to use private rooms.

And then I remember that when anything happens where the police are called to a home, they are likely to do a thorough search & will find all the equipment & toys & I just cringe, dying a little inside for them because immediately they're now a suspect.

I'm confused...what's the preoccupation with whether the rest of the pack knows Mace bottomed? There was no concern about it before. Why is this position suddenly a big deal? I know for a fact (at 41%ish - I went back to check) that Daniel fucked Mace in the first book...and did it at couple times.

What the what? I just...this is the most convoluted JL book I've ever listened to - and I'm loving it. Although, I do have to say that other than introducing a new love interest this book could have been a Holmes & Moriarity installment.

Ha! I pride myself on at least having an idea of what is going on, maybe even figuring out early "whodunit" in a murder/mystery type book...and I have to admit that this theory never even crossed my mind as a possibility. Kinda brilliant if it does turn out to be this way.

The phone sex and dirty talk in this is consistently good...really hot.
