OMG this book is deliciously brutal and not even trying to be subtle about the state of politics in the US (even as bad as it was pre-election). So glad the author was picked for a previous month AOM because otherwise I'd have probably taken forever to get to this book.

William groaned and dropped his head. He hated tax policy. Tax policy was stupid. Taxes should be simple. You made x amount of money and you paid y proportion of it to the government to pay for roads and bridges and schools. Rich people paid more than poor people. Boom. Tax policy done.

Not quite that simple, but I like where he's going with it. Added on to that bit about the environment & NPS...I <3 William.

My Book-Fu really is leading me to choices that surprise me with how much I like them...

Hmmm...the police chief called in the FBI for one murder - which, okay, he's new at the position and it is a possible hate crime, so props for that. But for not including himself on the "gay townsfolk" list he sure is awful touchy-feely-smiley with the other MC. Also comfortable in the MC's house...which, okay, he helped out around the farm when MC ditched for NY as a teen. But still. Something is off here...

So the FBI MC, drinking at a small-town, out-of-the-way bar is in too much of a hurry to get laid to wait for the bill & decides to leave his credit card there thinking he'd just get a new one?

I'm thinking this is gonna come back to bite him in the ass; if it doesn't then he'd better damn well order a new one or mention ordering one because I hate loose threads like that.

JFC, is anyone else getting repeatedly spammed by a phishing friend request with links to (supposedly) download books - free...which would be piracy?

If I didn't need this green cover, vampire MC, Q-author name book I'd have called it quits already. It's rough going...

Catching up on the AOM challenge; this one is from March - Amy Crook is a New-to-Me author so I thought I'd start with a short...

LOL, well...Will thought that acknowledging his response to ASMR videos was a bit shameful, something to hide, even from his previous boyfriend.

While I just went and blabbed how they make me tingle, too, all over the internet basically in my last update. Oops.

How weird. This is only the 2nd book I've ever read that mentioned the ASMResponse.

My mom used to run her index finger lightly over my face to get me to relax & sleep when I was very, very young. Certain sounds & actions have had a similar effect but I never thought about it enough to research it. Then I read Troll Whisperer, where it was detailed...and now here, with crinkly plastic giving Will tingles - me too!

Holy shit, what the hell did Priddy take? Those hallucinations are PCP, LSD or bathsalts level fucked up.

Also, I find it weird that in this part of the UK that heroin is called crack...because everywhere in the US crack is crack. Heroin is smack. Two completely different things.

The passage here about descriptive words & overlapping titles is just a brutal summary of what #cockygate is all about. My favorite part?

"For books about spanking, of course naughty is a popular choice. If we were writing books about, say, arrogant characters for example, it would be something else...It's not like people buy the wrong books or anything just because the titles are similar."

OMG this book is killing me...

Right there in the email was the cover of Naughty Stockbroker, and it was a total rip off of the cover of Naughty Writer, the book that Matt hadn't even written or published yet! A complete and total plagiarism of the cover he hadn't even shown anyone yet! The nerve!

Jealousy, that's all it was. Nelson was obviously jealous. Why else would he continue calling his books Naughty-Whatever after Matt started doing it?

Sure, Nelson had done it first...But once Matt started titling his books that way too, Nelson really should have backed off.

For most of his scenes I just could not imagine how Xavi could have enough female clients to be a successful gigolo, all the time. Yes, this is supposed to be set in Spain, 2042...but something about only fucking women didn't ring true, no matter how hot he was or how good he could be in bed.

Throwing in that bit about resorting to back-alley blow-jobs when times were tough made it so much more "realistic."

Need a green cover and a Q last name for a couple of challenges...now, if only "Chris" had been a male author I could have also used this for BINGO!

What the...?

I hate unexpected POV shifts, especially when suddenly we're in the head of someone suspect - a possible bad guy - when the entire book so far has been in one of the two MC's POV. Argh.

If there was a need to change it up, then why couldn't it have been from Ghost's POV?

Crap, I lost sight of this one so I'm going to have to start over...

Already enjoying the extra bits added to flesh out this story more. Really liked the original story but I have a feeling I'm gonna end up 5-Starring the expanded edition...

I am determined to be productive today...so I'm going to restart this one and have it done by tomorrow evening, gosh darn it! These ARCs won't read themselves.

Well, restart it when I wake up...and after my kid brings me breakfast in bed. Which, knowing him, will be toaster waffles. But hey, Mother's Day is only once a year and it's the thought that counts!

So, I was gonna try to power through this one but I just can't. I hate to do this to an ARC but it is what it is...

Gonna put this one back on the TBR as well...it's available at Hoopla for listening and if I have any credits left over at the end of the month I might start over listening to this one, hoping the things that bothered me around this point will translate better via narration.
