I LOVE the worldbuilding.

But wow, this is intense. 😅

My first reaction a couple of pages in ~ I thought this was dystopian ... but it's (pretty good) fantasy. 😆

I just want to give Shae a cat sidekick and a warm blanket. She's my favorite type of female protagonist—so broken and shattered with a tragic backstory, but she still keeps fighting for the truth. Her desire for the truth is so admirable.

And I STRONGLY suspect a Shae + Ravod romance.

*blinks*

Well, this feels like insta-love ... over email. 😐

I've been putting this book off for too long ... partly because I don't want it to be over.

Anywho! Now I'm finally jumping in, and let me just say: that cover is so much nicer in person.

EXPECTATIONS:
- JONAS!! *grins*
- I have a feeling a main character might die in this one ...
- A bittersweet ending
- Something unexpected happening to the world that's connected to the characters' powers

Hmm, I'm not liking Eve so far...

I don't ship characters often (if ever), but I totally ship Alice + Peter.

And Peter continues to be amazing. He's even Nettie-approved!

Kell was right. Peter IS a gem.

But like, argh, poor Kirk. 😬

Okay, so can we just bring up the oddly unnerving fact that this book features a character with my brother's name and another with a name that's really, really close to mine, and they're both really uncommon at that? 🤔😜

AHH YESS. Words cannot express how excited I am to finally have a physical copy of this book in my hands to read. SHADOW was amazing and I'm certain DUST will be too.

It's middle-grade books like this that make me realize how hilarious young children really are. 😂

I'm only really slow reading this book because I have it borrowed as an ebook... and I'm not the best at reading digitally. XD

Super excited to start this one, as the last time I read it was when I was eight or so. The only thing I remember is a particularly vivid exchange when one character figures out the true identity of another character. :P

EXPECTATIONS:

- Medieval castles, magic, fantasy creatures
- An evil queen
- Geese that can... talk?
- Sword fights

We'll see how many of my wild guesses appear. ;)

So... I technically already started reading this (I'm sorry!)... but for the sake of habits, I'm going to make an expectations list anyway. :P

EXPECTATIONS:

- Friendship/acceptance themes
- Birds
- Strained family relationships
- Character(s) with disabilities

We'll see how many of them actually show up in the book! ;)

This book is so beautiful, but yet painful to read.

It makes no sense in context... but anyway. Charlotte is HILARIOUS. 😂
