Okay, so slightly insane theory here that no one asked for:

What if Brooke is Coral's sister?

Proof to support this theory:
- They both show up together on the cover.
- Coral's sister's name was never revealed.
- Both girls deal with depression.
- Brooke's POV is the only timeline that hasn't lined up with the others.

I could be completely wrong, but I could also be right. 😉

Hey, friends!

As I'm sure some of you have noticed, I'm not very active on here. And for reasons that come with keeping up with many platforms, I've decided that in the near future, I'm likely going to drop Goodreads altogether and only use it for tracking the books I've read.

However, if you'd like to keep up with my authorship journey, feel free to join my mailing list or follow my Instagram (links in bio)!

E.C. is starting Even the Darkest Stars (Even the Darkest Stars, #1)
I bought this book in the summer of 2021, started it a few months later, and still haven't finished it.

The story itself hasn't pulled me in so far, honestly, though the aesthetic is interesting. I would DNF it, but it's one of the few fantasy books I have as a physical copy, and so I'd rather not. Maybe it's not actually anything wrong with the book, just my general lack of enthusiasm when reading fantasy ...? XD

Does it make me a bad person if I think Gussie's parents' actions are honestly understandable? They are right, after all ... Gussie comes across as a bit too careless and selfish :\ Thank goodness for character arcs!

"I shall never marry, Atticus."
"Why?"
"I might have children."

Okay but really, this book is nothing like how I expected it so far. It portrays the life of young children to such a realistic level, it's absolutely hilarious while being relatable all at the same time. 😂

Okay, I do have to admit—I love how Sanderson slipped the Lion King references into this story. Totally unexpected but definitely Spensa. 😆

After what feels like years staring at the gorgeous cover of this book and re-reading my copy of PAX and alternating between extremely nervous this book will not live up to its prequel and extremely excited I'll get to go on what feels like an adventure with these characters again ...

It's finally here, guys.

I can't believe I'm actually reading this.

So after seeing this book around the writer community forever, then reading all the rave reviews and admiring the cover, I caved and bought it, despite my habit of never buying books I haven't read.

Let's just say I have very high expectations, and I'm so excited to finally read this beautiful book. ✨

I wouldn't say I'm "reading" this ... since I'm technically listening to an audiobook (and yes, it feels weird because I haven't listened to a book on audio since I was like ... seven XD).

But it's kind of hilarious and rambly so far.

E.C. is on page 174 of 367 of Set the Stars Alight
This book feels like what would happen if L. M. Montgomery wrote a modern novel with the same aesthetic as Anne's House of Dreams, minus the gossip. xD

This is the type of book that makes me want to embark on a search for kindred spirits in seaside towns with a warm sweater and a cup of Earl Gray.

In other words—this story is soulful and sad and deep and filled to the brim with precious, precious characters.

E.C. is starting The Snow Child
I'm sort of excited ... and terrified ... to start this read. It sounds like something completely up my alley (despite it being adult :P), but I'm afraid it won't live up to my expectations.

✧ expectations ✧

~ sad, slow, melancholy aesthetic
~ one of the main characters takes to caring for animals in place of children
~ snowstorms
~ natural forest magic

Very specific, I know. xD We'll see which ones appear!
