Steven Allen is on page 77 of 230 of The Spur - Loki's Rock
From the original writer of the Outlander's series, this book is a new setting with new characters. So far about the same as the Deathlands and Outlander's series. Good escapist literature without having to strain your brain understanding what is going on.

Something usually outside my usual reading genre, but so far a decent read.

This book starts out with an excellent space battle. Good start with action, be interesting to see if the book maintains this pace.

I am enjoying this book, the new author captured the essence of the characters very well. If they ever make this book into a movie, I hope the Swedes do it instead of the Americans who royally screwed up the first movie despite having Daniel Craig in it.

I was concerned that this book would be a let-down compared to the other books written by Larsson. So far really well done. Lagercrantz has captured Salander perfectly, her wit and dry humor.

I still cannot see how brandy, no matter how expensive, would be enough to start a colony 14-light years away. Other than nitpicking holes in the story, the premise is good and the story is well-written. Interesting characters, good building of empathy with the reader even if the protagonist is a dirty cop. Good description of the planet, which reminds me of modern-day Tijuana, except with lizard fights not chickens.

You would think that with Ashlyn being pregnant, and using all of these mind powers, that she would be very, very hungry. Our minds are one of the greediest organs in our bodies, and for someone to summon such power, change her shape, etc. would demand a massive intake of calories to support. Nothing like conservation of energy to poke holes in a fiction story.

This is the second Sigma book that I have read. This one starts out well. Again all super studly members of a super-secret squirrel covert ops unit has to save the world. Interesting use of Christmas Island crabs.

I like police procedurals, especially those that mix SciFi in as well. I have not settled into this story yet - too many WTF moments right now. For a setting that reminds me of Tijuana in space, why would a wealthy, very beautiful woman join the police force? If Lagarto is such a nasty back water planet, why would the wealthy stay if they could get to a better place? I will keep reading hoping this story gets better.

This book starts well with Juno picking up his week's payoffs. I am enjoying the book, but wish it was paperback so that it would be so much more portable. This one I will have to read at home since there is no way it will fit in my lunch pail.

Almost done. I see where some people have difficulty with the Brun character, calling her a Mary Sue. It did seem sudden for Brun to go from ditsy socialite (I imagine Paris Hilton, but with a much better body and a brain) to member of parliament in a page. Perhaps in editing and cuts for space removed the explanation of Brun's political prowess. I also think that Heris is going to lose Petris.

A mindless, no-brainer, but still some fun escapist literature. Needs a better editor, as I have already found two glaring errors. Assignation instead of assassination. Must be using either auto correct (which will occasionally screw you) or just used the wrong word in the sentence.
