Steven Allen is on page 5 of 342 of The Lottery Curse
I have been waiting for this book for a while. As a business major, in college one of my instructors told us that if we ever hit a lottery what to do so we did not end up like one of these cautionary tales.

So Kris has her own command now, a little Fast Patrol Boat. Be interesting to see what trouble Kris gets into this time.

Why would Kris use a knife when she had a gun in her pocket? Is this to show the character's mettle or lack of tactical decision making?

I've read several other books by this author. I like PA fiction, and this will give me a little break from the continuous SF slog (although it is my favorite genre.)

While I enjoy these books, I don't keep them unlike the Honor Harrington series. Honor's benefit is a treecat while Kris Longknife has the benefit of a wealthy family and a personal computer that is leaps and bounds ahead of what her ship carries. I've always felt that Longknife's computer serves as an author plot tool and too convenient solution. I'd like to see Longknife survive by wits rather than toys.

Another great entry into the Honoverse. Honor finds herself a little out of her element on a diplomatic mission rather than a combat operation.

Continuation of the first two books where the lady now becomes the owner of her own escort agency. Australia was one of the earlier countries to legalize prostitution. It is interesting to note that the sex workers still suffer some of the same problems that supposedly legalization was supposed to solve. Germany thought legalization would stop human trafficking, but it has actually increased human trafficking

Human sexuality never ceases to amaze me. I am fairly vanilla myself, but don't care what turns others on - each to their own as long as everybody is an adult and willing.

I forgot how much I enjoyed Weber's writing. I also forgot how much I loved Nimitz, Honor's treecat. There should be a book written about animal companions in fiction - how to do them correctly, and how not to do animal companions (Cujo anybody?).

Back to my favorite genre for the next book. I've been wanting to read these Honor Harrington books for a while. About time to mark them off my "to read" list.

The story is now set in the early to mid '90s. I am amazed at the number of men that desire (at least according to the story) to perform oral sex on an escort.

The story is now set in the very early 1990's. Still an interesting read of a divorced mother attempting to keep her family financially solvent, while attempting not to lose time with her children.

Second book in this series, which I believe could have been done as one larger book. I wonder if the author wrote the story in whole, but the publisher wanted it split into two books.

It has been a while since I read fantasy. A favorite of mine since my best friend in high school gave me Terry Brook's "The Elfstones of Shanarra," fantasy is my second-most read genre. The author's characters are vividly described; I felt empathy for Ward and his family immediately. No romance so far, but excellent setting of the scene in a new series with all new characters.

I've read some of the author's other series such as the Mercy Thompson series. The author has a reputation for romantic fantasy, which the Mercy books do have a little. I did not care for the Alpha and Omega series - too much romance for me - not enough ass kicking. Be interesting to see how this book reads - back page blurb sounds good.

Interesting look at a woman working in a brothel in the late '70s early '80s. Why someone would pay for sex in Australia is beyond me. Aussies tend to be more broad-minded about sex than us up-tight, puritanical Americans.

This book has gotten a lot better. Started a little slow but now that we are in battle in the Middle East the action has picked up. Interesting that all of the military gear is so susceptible to EMP. Everything we had was hardened against EMP. The Russians were ahead of us hardening their gear. Either the author is ignorant of the hardened gear or in his world none of the gear was hardened.

Given to me by a coworker, this book sounded like something that I would likely read. I give it a solid meh. It's ok, but nothing grabs me. Most of the characters I have no empathy for; perhaps there is not enough back story yet. If this book is this meh throughout not likely I will read another.
