So far so good. Now that Wayson is back in uniform, the story is going along at a brisk pace. I was sorry that Wayson did not get a brief romance while on Delphi, but it might not have added much to the story.

I've read some of the author's other works and enjoyed them very much. This is a good post-apocalyptic story where a mutated strain of the mad cow disease wipes most of mankind out. A little different than the usual stories in the sub-genre, much like his other zombie books. So far so good, but I could use more action and less character introspective.

The story has gotten significantly better. The civil war has gone badly for Wayson's side. I like a thinking enemy and one that assassinates an enemy admiral so that a lesser admiral takes command is something that Sun Tzu would have approved of. The beginning of this book was tortuously slow but has gotten much better.

So since my last update, this book has gotten better. Wayson is back in the Marines as a Colonel no less, and involved in the civil war. His admiral benefactor is assassinated and now the SecNav is his ally. It is true that war makes strange bedfellows. I could have done without all the political wrangling but it did set the story up for this point.

Lost power last night which slowed my reading. This story has lost some of its appeal for me now that Wayson is no longer a Marine, but a freelance bounty hunter bent on revenge. Much more political than the previous book. Good enough of a read to continue, but definitely not a keeper or one to reread. Little disappointed as the first book held much promise.

This book is off to a good start. As the second book of a series, it is nice that the author started with a recap of events in the previous book. The author also gave a detailed political map which helps if you have not read the first book or forgot in between books.

Started a new series with this book. At first I was worried that this book might be a Star Wars rip-off. Action is fast and well paced, but the space battles are a little sparse. Some political intrigue which get more prevalent the more I read. No graphic sex, but sex is implied, unless the author meant to infer they played Parcheesi. Frequent ground battle actions are well-paced with some, but not too-graphic gore.

So i read the first two chapters and got sick of the damn Amazon Kindle price gouging for each chapter. Thankfully, the author offered the whole shebang at a 50% discount so I grabbed it so I could read the whole thing and not have to bother with buying each chapter.

A lessor author might have bungled this story, as it would be hard to continue the story now that the Syndics are finished. I like how Geary is charitable to his former lover, and does not let bitterness consume him when she goes back to her husband.

Our poor hero, who had the poor fortune to not remain dead, struggles with more political intrigue, rogue Syndics, and strange aliens. I like how Geary is not the perfect hero. As someone who suffers PTSD, I can empathize with Geary and Desjani. A lesser author would bungle a story like this, but Campbell does an excellent job keeping the tension and story enough to keep me reading.

More political intrigue mixed with good space opera.

I am having a hard time reading this book as it is a rather droll approach to a rather interesting topic. Glad I did not purchase this from Amazon.

Well at least work is letting me read some more. This has been a very good series - one of the best series of military SciFi I have read in a long time.
