I have enjoyed this book a lot. One of the better SciFi books so far this year. A little disappointed to learn the next book is not about the same characters. Hope we get more of Cartwright's Cavaliers in other books.

Wilf's noble title is obviously an homage to ER Burroughs' Tarzan. I always thought emperor Triannic was most likely based on Napoleon.

These are decent books to me - a good read but not something that I am going to go out of my way to purchase. If I can get one free I'll read.

Time to change it up a little more. Other than the cop book I just finished, I've been reading SciFi almost non-stop.

I had forgotten how in these later books, Wilf reminds me of Captain Kirk on the old Star Trek program - he taps every good-looking woman he meets. I don't understand couples that stay together for prestige despite that both are screwing other people with the other's knowledge. I guess if everyone knows and no one is doing it behind someone's back its ok, but not something I would choose to do.

I had forgotten that as this series progresses Wilf's recreational sex and one night stands increase. Always wondered if the author was living through his character. Also wondered why a culture with FTL, laser guns, eradicated all STDs, bio tech that allows women to choose when they conceive and sex of their child, and other high-technology cannot cure drug addiction.

This author also wrote the original Death Lands and Outlanders series for Harlequin under the Gold Eagle imprint under the Axler pen name. I hope that he is able to get the rights back to both the Deathlands and the Outlanders.

One thing I have always wondered was why does Wilf go back to Margot, even though she is an addict? He correctly states that an addict cares for nothing but her addiction. He should have remembered her the way she was, before marrying the asshat and her addiction. I would not met her at the reception knowing she was still an addict.

Better get to my chores or I'll waste all day with my nose buried in my Kindle. The Helmsman books are full of hackneyed tropes, but this is not high literature for enlightenment - this is escapist men's adventure literature. No hard thinking here, and if those pesky laws of physics get in way, the drive crystals will take care of that problem.

I always wondered if Margot was not patterned on Princess Diana. Battle scenes are good in this book.

Uh no safety gear in a crime scene, can't imagine digging around in a murdered corpse bare handed. Definitely before the days of AIDS and other blood borne pathogens is better understood.

Set in New York in the late '70s - no cell phones, no safe sex, everyone smokes, disco is the shit, and no computers.

This is the book where Wilf makes numerous mistakes. I always wondered if Wilf's pride cost him a possible long term relationship with Claudia rather than occasion FWB, since she later marries someone else.

I am reading a whole lot of SciFi lately, time to mix it up a little with some cop procedural murder mystery.

Much of Baldwin's writing is criticized for being too black and white and simplistic. In the Trophy is where it all goes south for Wil and his princess lover. It will be interesting to see how much different this expanded author's edition is compared to the old paperback. I also wonder if things go as bad for Margot as I remember last time I read these books.

I had forgotten about Wilf buying Margot a whore's dress for the restaurant. Not sure if this is new material or something I forgot. If I bought my wife a whore's dress there would be no way I was getting any later. Wilf is a lucky man.

I have always enjoyed this series of space opera books. Probably why I like the Star Justice series as well as they are very similar in theme.

Forgot to type my review in. For some reason everytime the Sagathi gets mentioned I picture the Velociraptors from Jurassic Park.

This series reminds me of another favorite fantasy series - the Deathdealer series by James Silke based on a Frazetta painting.

Great action and suspense, but a little predictable so far. Cato is such a careless cad that it is almost hard to believe that an empath can be that clueless around a woman.

Some good combat action with a few twists I was not expecting.

Really good and about what I imagine would happen in similar situation. It is nice to read about familiar areas since part of the book is set in the local area. I retired from JBLM so its nice to see it mentioned if only fiction.

Started rather well in a familiar setting. I was posted at JBLM towards the end of my career.

The author changed the formula a little on this one. So far my least favorite of the Mercer books. Got rather tedious in the middle, but now that Mercer along with some Delta guys are shooting up a Tibetan monastery things have gotten interesting.
