So break from space opera is over. I will now finish this series as I have always wanted to read it. I was familiar with the series, and its oft comparison to Battletech.

Well so much for the break in space opera as this book finally came in the mail from Paperback Swap.

Taking a little break from space opera for a bit still

These science fantasy books have been a nice change of pace from the near continuous space opera that I read. I have enjoyed most of this author's books. I particularly love this author's Lost Fleet space opera series and hope that he writes more in that series. I would not mind a few more books set in Dematr either, maybe about the Daughter or her mage in their earlier years.

My darn foot is getting in the way of my reading! I am looking forward to the next two books as well and wondering if there is going to be a third.

I mistakenly marked this one as read when it was the other JD Robb book I finished.

Alright back to taking a break from the Space Opera again although I am going to finish the Warstrider series here by the middle of next week. Unless this forced convalescence ends soon, I am going to tear through books at a rate that I am having trouble keeping up with my reviews.

So this novella gives a look at the ending of Daring (Kris Longknife #9) but from Grandpa Trouble and King Ray's perspective.

OK oops I have to rip through this book and the next really quick before my loan of #9.5 expires.

Finally got this book through Paperback Swap so that I can continue reading this excellent space opera series. Typical of Kris, she goes almost two months without someone shooting at her to really step in it this time. Interesting to see Nelly developing a personality of her own and arguing with Kris. God help anyone with an AI computer that gets 'tude lessons from a 12 year old girl.

I was a little concerned reading this book since it did not concern the Marines directly. My fears were unfounded as this has been one of the best books from this series so far.

I like how the author has alternated between the main series and then a book set somewhere else in the world. This is one of the somewhere else books. I hope one of these books I get to learn what happened to Belinda and Roland.

Alright enough mushy post-apocalyptic zombie vampire urban fantasy - time for more ass-kicking space opera.

So a little break from the space opera for a while. Reading some post-apocalyptic urban fantasy sounds good about now. Nice break from the continuous SciFi dealing with zombies, vampires, and magic.

I have been reading a ton of space opera lately, so time for some urban fantasy post-zombie apocalypse fiction. This is an interesting storyline with well detailed characters that I can empathize with.

This has been an interesting series concerning the traditional Irish folklore. Not your usual story, a little darker which reminds me of Laurel K Hamilton a bit.

Ok so not quite super JAG in space like I feared after the old, horrible TV show. Little slow in the beginning I hope that it picks up later on.

Interesting that some ghosts from Kris's past come to haunt her.

I like how in this book Kris continues to mature and starts thinking of others before she charges in. A good leader always thinks of those she sends into harm's way trying to find a way to lessen the butcher's bill. I think Kris's biological clock is starting to tick as she is almost 30, unmarried and has missed several potential boyfriends, Jack better step up to the plate soon or he will miss her.

Not something I expected to read, but the author has some other books that I like, so I thought I would give it a shot. I have read a few guy lit books, but most of those were men's adventure fiction, sorta men's Harlequin series. First book was decent, so I thought I would try the second.

I was unsure about this book as I was enjoying the story of the Marines on Avalon. Didn't know if I wanted to drop that story line and go back to the beginning. My fears were unfounded as despite a slow start with lots of world building, this story has taken off. Colonel Lawton is an awesome woman, and the child emperor is lucky to have her.

So they can make their children very beautiful, but they cannot make them smart? Vicki appears to be as stupid as her dead brother was. Vicki may not be as wealthy as Kris, but the best she can do is a bunch of two-bit crooks from the hood for an assassination attempt on Kris?
