And here I told the wife I was not going to read past midnight again. Damn authors who write such good books that I cannot put them down.

These have been good books. Rather formulaic but that is part of the attraction of these types of books.

This author is known for his fantasy writing, but I read some of his SciFi first. Great start, if the rest of this book is this good, I will get the rest of this series.

Did not mean to read two Dietz's books at the same time, but the library finally had this one available for Kindle.

This is a good second book in this duology. I like the Cato character even if he is a bit of a dick.

Well, despite the cheesy cover art, this has been a good story. Not exactly fine literature but good escapist reading to disconnect your brain and just enjoy the story. Thankfully Adam quit saying "confirmed" all the time. Be interesting to see how the love triangle plays out between Adam and the two women.

So I believe I have correctly guessed at the woman Mercer is going to have his next fling with. Evil Chinese industrialists, the PLA, and lost Spanish gold all make a good story.

This has been a good story so far and has gotten better now that we are back to shooting slugs. Got a little boring with the political crap there for a while.

I have enjoyed all of this author's SciFi stories. I am reading his new series, set in the same galaxy but much earlier. I hope that in the future he might return to Helfort and write a few more in this series or a later series.

Another great story tying some of history's greatest tragedies with a good story. I never would have thought to tie several different early to mid-20th century historical events together like the creative author has.

So far another excellent Mercer story. I like historical WW2 fiction, and so far this has not been a disappointment.

Poor general Wander, he obviously is unfamiliar with the Afghan proverb: "Give a horse to he who speaks truth; he will need it to flee." Wander was correct, and now he has to face the consequences of being correct when everyone else told him he was wrong.

I am glad that I rented this book electronically from my library. A decent read, but not something that I will read again. Some have complained about the graphic sex in this author's books. Maybe I am jaded because I read Hamilton, Rice and Lustbader, but I did not find the sex graphic in this book. Might read another book by this author if I can get it from the library again.

Another book from my TBR pile and another that I was not willing to purchase. Thankfully, my library has a very good selection of electronic titles for borrowing. I love my library! So far this book starts well, but we will see once we get into the meat of the story.

I misplaced this book for a while, which is why so much time has passed since I read the first book. I always wanted to read this series, but not willing to buy them incase they were not that great. The books so far have been a good read but I am glad that I got them through Paperback Swap rather than Amazon. Good read, but not something I am likely to read again.

I am glad to see Sura has now become an integral part of the family's effort to win freedom from the corporation. It is good that the couple admit their infidelities to each other - some marriages can survive infidelity, some can't. At least neither partner attempted to "out wrong" the other in some perverse method of revenge. These novellas are getting better, I hope to read more about the Hyst family.

I have enjoyed the two previous novellas in this series. While I understand the theory behind keeping a lover while deployed and keeping that separate from home, I still disagree with the idea on principle. If everyone is aware of what is going on then I don't have a problem with what today we call "open marriages." I think these types of relationship over-complicate what is difficult already - military marriages.

This is a very chilling portrayal of what could happen should an EMP weapon should be detonated over the US. Neighbor would turn on neighbor. The cities will push or dump their population into the surrounding countryside where the useless breeders & eaters will swarm looking to take/steal/kill for food, water and shelter.

These are more novellas really than books. For $4 on Amazon though I feel they are worth it. Good story with characters that I feel for. A career in the military let me see married couples act like the Hysts; both seeking the comfort of another while the military person is deployed. Some marriages are ok with this arrangement; some not & some dont survive. Sometimes the side piece becomes more rather intended or not.
