Better than I expected. I held my nose starting this worried I was sinking into another morass of awkward trope-laden SciFi with delusions of being Space Opera. Not quite sure the story so far has graduated to true Space Opera, but is a captivating story with a MC that I want to know what happens next.

This is more of a novella, but I should crank it out in about an hour or so. I am on the author's ARC team, so I get an earlier look at the book.

There is a decent story buried under a lot of minor mistakes. Author needs a better editor and proofreader(s). I believe some of the author's horrible reviews might lessen if there were less silly mistakes in her book.

Not what I was expecting, but not as horrible as I feared either.

Thanks to my friend Iori, I have found yet another book to read. At least Iori's recommendations give me a nice break from my usual and sometimes highly-political Space Opera.

Time for a little change again from the Space Opera.

Need a break from all of the politics in the Honorverse for a bit. This book I remember starts with a bang - literally.

I had forgotten how thick and how political this book is. So far it has been nothing but politics, inter-party maneuvering and backstabbing, followed with page after page of scene setting. Good thing that I am a huge Honorverse fan, otherwise I might have tossed this book. So far not enough action for most readers of Space Opera.

Sad to start reading the last book (so far) of the Black Jack Geary series.

Since I love craft beer, this book sounded interesting. I found it interesting that Anchor Steam brewery was the sole craft beer maker in the mid 1970's. My maternal uncle Gary introduced me to Anchor Steam beer on trips to San Francisco to see the Giants play. After the game we would go to Fisherman's Wharf, get fresh seafood and drink Anchor Steam beer. I have found memories of sitting on the street shucking clams.

Time to get back to this series. I keep hoping the author will release another Kresnov book. I like series with strong female protagonist characters which is why I like a lot of Elizabeth Moon's books as well as the Honor Harrington series.

I've read the story of a German sniper, now time for one from the opposite side of the war. I also have a copy of Vasily Grigoryevich Zaytsev's book Notes of a Russian Sniper: Vassili Zaitsev and the Battle of Stalingrad. Why do Russian books have such long titles? Other than Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace, I can't think of another Russian book I've read with a short title.
