My younger brother has Asperger's and when my parents pass will probably become his guardian so I immediately empathised with the MC. I also empathised with the MC's brother, remembering how my brother has been treated by other "normal" people as if something was wrong or broken with him.

Still trying to knock the glut of romances clogging my inbox. This is another that I am having a hard time getting into the story. So far, it has been a resounding - meh.

I really enjoy these book. Before joining the service, the allure of the forbidden East held much attraction for me.

Been on a late to mid-70s pulp SciFi and fiction binge. Still weird no - cell phones, computers, or other digital crap we have become so accustomed to.

A surprising decent read. I was expecting something much more juvenile and puerile.

One of the longer, but I hope not the last Kresnov book. First third of the book is rather boring with lots of politics, and background. Once Kresnov starts doing her thing, this book really picks up.

I know this is a woman's fantasy, but it sure is pushing the rape/non-consensual vibe. I'd call the guy fairly shady, and will be disappointed with the MC if she doesn't hand the guy his ass when she learns his identity.

Usually the second book is not thicker than the first.

I forgot how sick and twisted Olden's bad guys can be - he rivals Lustbader for most sick and twisted bad dude.

The author was just ahead of the ninja craze that swept America in the early '80s. This is one of the first books I bought after assignment to my first unit in the service. I was dubious first time reading this book as I was expecting something like the Kung Fu TV theater of my youth. I forgot The Ninja is set late 1970s so no cell phones, safe sex, plucked vaginas, computers, or other electronic detritus of today.

Like most books by either of these authors, starts slow but once the political BS is out of the way and pulser darts start flying the book picks up immensely.

The MC always amazes me how he takes his wife's infidelity in stride - as if that is part of her and he loves her including her inability to be faithful. At least the wife didn't lie or make excuses. Great action for a detective book. Reminds me of the Nicholas Linnear by Eric Van Lustbader which like these books mixes the West with the ancient Orient.

A good ol' crime detective story is a nice change. Reading a book set in the late 1970s is different because there are no computers, cell phones, and other tech that plagues our lives. Also absent is the concept of safe sex, AIDS, and other STDs if mentioned at all. Unprotected sex with a New York transexual prostitute would be unthinkable today.

I do occasionally enjoy a good detective story. This book is one I have wanted to read for some time, but not so badly as to buy a copy. A nice change from harem urban fantasy and space opera.

Another book that I saw Iori was interested in. Not quite the word porn I was expecting. Sex actually occurs later than page #2, but when it does is very explicit and rather unique for a monster girl and human boy sex. Not bad so far - excellently flawed MC with some unique flaws not that common in urban fantasy.

I wish that Lois McMaster Bujold's Miles Vorkosigan in "Borders of Infinity" had not accidentally killed Beatrice. I really liked Beatrice. Perhaps the author will have Beatrice survive (she is after a front-line highly-modified ubersoldier) her fall from the shuttle to be rescued later by Miles and his crew of scrappy mercenaries.

These damn Valens books keep getting shorter. This is another novella. Book #9 and #10 could have been combined, but then the author wouldn't get to sell as many books.

I wonder if Sean was serious about getting another wife. Between six wives, two mistresses, and the occasional strange, Sean is a busy lad. I wish Sean would lay off the strange, I don't like to see the hero MC cheapen himself that way as I find hitting strange while in a committed relationship(s) beneath a hero. I've never liked open relationships.
