Thought I’d share this snippet of dialogue from something I’m working on

Stefiana (vampire) – I can’t just walk into her house, I wasn’t invited in.
Ian (extra-terrestrial) – Oh, right, because you’re a vampire.
Stefiana – Uh, nooooo, because it’s rude!

Why did Jim Butcher have to name a character "Butters"...now I can't stop picturing Butters looking (and dancing) like this guy...

Harry Dresden - He Died Doing The Right Thing - Okay, Dresden's gravestone is pretty dramatic and all, but I can think of one that was even more impressive...

LUTHOR - "Soon my evil plan will leave Superman begging for mercy! MUAH-HA-HA!"
BRAINIAC - "You're going to force him to watch Superman Returns?"
LUTHOR - "Whoa...even I'm not THAT evil! Seriously, dude, you crossed a line!"
Okay, I admit it, that scene never actually happens in the book, but it would have been really cool if it did...

Ahhh, Mr. Dresden, it's been far too long...

Luthor - "Our planet is playing host to a powerful and parasitic alien organism masquerading, somewhat ineptly I have to say, as a human being!" Wow, xenophobic Lex Luthor is far more creepy and evil than mad scientist Lex Luthor ever was!

In this book, the gods don't just play dice with the universe, they pretty much play "Dungeons and Dragons" with it! Wait...does that mean the gods are...NERDS?!?

Y'know...before I started this one, it never once occurred to me that I may one day read a book where my favorite character is a sentient piece of luggage with hundreds of tiny legs! Well Done, Mr. Pratchett!!!

"You don't understand at all. I'm so scared of you, my spine has turned to jelly, it's just that I'm suffering from an overdose of terror right now. I mean, when I've gotten over that, then I'll have time to be decently frightened of you!" - Heh, heh, only a few pages in, and this is already shaping up to be a really fun read :D

That last book I read was so dark and dreary, I need something more fun and magical now to balance things out...looks like Terry Pratchett to the rescue!!! :D

It's really getting annoying how many times Connelly reveals a block of information in first-person narration, and then later has the character reveal the exact same chunk of information through dialogue! I swear, if Harry Bosch would stop repeating himself, this book would be less than 200 pages! :/

I have an uncomfortable feeling I know what the big twist is going to be...if I'm right, my eyes should never forgive me for making them read something so ridiculous! :/

Detective Harry Bosch is adamant that he doesn't believe in coincidences. I don't believe in them either...what a coincidence!

Seriously, one cop is named "Jerry Edgar" (J. Edgar), and the two IA officers are named "Lewis" and "Clarke"??? LAME!!!

Only a few pages in, and already this book has a real noir flavor to it...of course, it won't truly qualify as noir until a femme fatale shows up!

I've just realized I've never read a Michael Connelly mystery...this must be rectified at once!

Of all the horrifying things that happen in this book, the most disturbing thing by far is Perry's mom! Saying such mean things to your own daughter...not cool, lady, you should definitely have this on your car...

"She really did look like some satanic clown's aging mother." - That could be one of the greatest descriptions I've ever read!

She listens to Slayer & Alice In Chains, she named her motorbike "Put-Put", and just when I thought she couldn't get any more awesome, Perry goes and references one of the greatest movies of all time! :D

Hmmm...young ghost-hunters are investigating a local urban legend while filming everything...this is kinda like "The Blair Witch Project"...except this book isn't boring! :D

Only two chapters in, and I'm already convinced Karina Halle should direct horror movies someday...that's what the genre has been missing, the "first person view through holes in a sweater" camera angle! :D

No surprise the Court of Owls is so depraved…I always knew owls were evil, ever since that commercial where that bastard owl stole the kid’s Tootsie Pop!
