"Sometimes journeys drag as much on the readers of them as those that take it. The long trek of Rand and Mat as they try to reunite with the group in Caemlyn is one such. This being my second read thru makes it that much more tedious. It is one part I'm glad was left out in the series adaptation." Nov 19, 2022 02:41PM

George Carlin
“The most unfair thing about life is the way it ends. I mean, life is tough. It takes up a lot of your time. What do you get at the end of it? A Death! What’s that, a bonus? I think the life cycle is all backwards. You should die first, get it out of the way. Then you live in an old age home. You get kicked out when you’re too young, you get a gold watch, you go to work. You work forty years until you’re young enough to enjoy your retirement. You do drugs, alcohol, you party, you get ready for high school. You go to grade school, you become a kid, you play, you have no responsibilities, you become a little baby, you go back into the womb, you spend your last nine months floating …and you finish off as an orgasm.”
George Carlin

Nick Hornby
“You don't ask people with knives in their stomachs what would make them happy; happiness is no longer the point. It's all about survival; it's all about whether you pull the knife out and bleed to death or keep it in...”
Nick Hornby, How to Be Good

David Brin
“Magic and art arise from an egomaniac's insistence that the artist is right, and the universe wrong.”
David Brin, Brightness Reef

Richard P. Feynman
“Physics is like sex: sure, it may give some practical results, but that's not why we do it.”
Richard P. Feynman

Robert A. Heinlein
“I will accept any rules that you feel necessary to your freedom. I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do.”
Robert A. Heinlein, The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress
