Really enjoyed it - I do like the psychic concept - not quite a full believer, but ??? 5★s

The first house my wife and I lived in and where our children were born was not very far from the setting of the book, but some of the towns names in the book were not real.
We drove up and down "South Road" literally many hundreds of times.

Look forward to reading her next 2 books.

Hiya Tfitoby,
I can make a few suggestions to add to what our other friends have said, if you don't mind.
You might be interested in doing some of the reading challenges set up by our fearless leaders, both in this group, and in the Aussie Readers group.
I'll send you a message with some examples of some challenges we are currently doing.
Maybe it will help. You can just disregard it if you want to. No worries.

The other thing I do is to just pick a few from my mountain of books and put them by my favorite reading chair and work from there.
At present, I have 580 TBR.! If I didn't have some system, I'd be very overwhelmed!

Anytime you need help with anything, you can always ask, just like you did here. Everyone here is happy to help. I have learned a lot from the wonderful folks here. =o)

 Li'l Owl | 1064 comments Hiya!

Currently reading the 14th and 15th books I've read so far in 2017.
Triple Crown by Felix Francis Triple Crown by Felix Francis. As per usual, I'm loving it.
AND
Sinister Intent (Lexie Rogers, #1) by Karen M. Davis Sinister Intent by Karen M. Davis.
I've got this as an audio book and I just love the narrator.
(https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...) I've only listened to the first few chapters and I'm hooked. Since it's both written by, and read by Aussies, it just makes it even better! My American accent is so boring. =o)

+1 for the challenges! They get my vote. I've read some fantastic books I would never have found if I didn't have to find a book with a certain picture on the cover or a 6 books from different decades. Lots of fun, and there are never any hard feelings if you can't complete the list.

There are a few here that are current that aren't necessarily mysteries. https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

Kerri_M | 785 comments Just finished Back Blast by Mark Greaney

This is the 5th book in the Gray Man series - I read the first book in the series about 6 months ago in one of our challenges, and got caught up enough to bring myself up to date in the series.

The Gray Man is like a mixture of Jason Bourne, Reacher and MacGyver. So totally unrealistic in terms of what he can do without getting dead, but enjoyed it anyway! 4 ★

Li'l Owl | 1064 comments Started reading my first Katherine Howell, Detective Ella Marconi Series

Frantic (Detective Ella Marconi, #1) by Katherine Howell Frantic
It's going to be a read in one sitting kind of book.

Question for my bookie buddies. Does anyone look stuff up while reading because you want to know more about something?
For example: in the book, paramedics arrive on scene of a motor vehicle accident. The officer reports to them:
"Three cars and one small truck. Two people are code four, three code nine and one of those unconscious"

I looked up Australian ambulance codes.
Code four Deceased. Code nine Rescue required, person trapped.

I do this all the time so I'm constantly learning stuff even though the book is fiction. Does anyone else do this or is it just me? It takes me longer to finish, but it's more gratifying. =o)

PattyMacDotComma | 818 comments Li'l Owl, yes I look things up all the time and sometimes add stuff to my reviews. If you look for American reviewer Will Byrnes you'll see he writes extensively about some books and puts a lot of links at the end of the review. You can follow up if you want or skip it. I think it's great!

Here's a good example of Will's style:

PattyMacDotComma | 818 comments I've just read Aussie author Sarah Ridout's debut novel, a mystery of sorts, Le Chateau. It does start as a bit of a thriller, but we're never quite sure.

I think she will attract plenty of romance readers, but it wasn't for me. (This novel, I mean, not romance!) It's still available on NetGalley.

I agree with you Li'l Owl - Frantic is a book that will keep you glued to your chair and to forget about cooking dinner for your family.
